1  Tiny TARDIS Box... It's a police BOX! in Completed Projects by edenkitty on: May 19, 2013 08:28:19 PM

Made a TARDIS box for a friend's birthday! He's a bit color blind so I used metallic paint for the door panels so they would be a bit easier to see.

The inside is pretty darn simple (for the sheer fact that I ran out of time.)

I was so scared when I dropped one of the screws on the carpet, I was smart enough to use a ruler in a sweeping motion to find it. Such an easy way to find such a tiny screw!

2  Luna, the needle felted pixie in Felting: Completed Projects by edenkitty on: March 28, 2013 08:55:02 PM

So I made this little lady for the Little Visitor swap, and I'm feeling a little inferior since everyone else has a store bought stuffy or such they are sending.

... also she's tiny...

Should I make a new one? Or go find a store bought pixie.

4  Re: Fiber Friday 20 January 2012 in Spinning: Completed Projects by edenkitty on: January 20, 2012 01:54:51 PM
Ok, so this is my first fiber friday post, so sorry that I have quite a few that I want to put up.

This first one was 4 oz of a 50 percent bamboo, 25 percent merino and 25 percent silk blend that I spun up for my aunt, I know I got at least 90-100 yards or so of it, but it sure was bulky and thick. This stuff takes forever to dry (I think it's the bamboo and maybe a little bit of the silk)

The next one was another present for another aunt, I called the yarn "blue lemon meringue pie" in honor of her mother that had passed away last year. It's plied with this wonderful metlon or lurex thread I got a while back in an awesome blue. I'm unsure of yardage, and as you can tell it's pretty thick/thin

This one is a fun one, I call it "Jeans go with Everything." I spun this from a bit of Colonial wool that I got in a swap and plyed it with this awesome cotton or rayon thread that has a bit of metallic running through it with pink and blue. It's hard to catch sparkle with the camera, but I really liked the look of this one. It's 3 ounces and about 119 yards.

I love a good thick/thin single! I made this with 2 ounces of some funky german? wool I received in the same swap as the other wool and just love the color way, I call it "Clouds at Twilight" and am in love with this yarn, It's about 2 ounces and 111 yards.

Here is a yarn I spun using my gradient method, I love how the yarn comes out just like the roving, I mean, I love variegated yarns, but I love a stripe or a gradient even more. I got this roving at the Astoria Fiber Arts Academy and plied it with a commercial 2 ply wool yarn. I ended up getting a bit of of this one since i used the commercial yarn to ply with 151 yards and a total of 4.5 ounces when all is said and done.

This is my disappointing yarn, Though the colors are pretty and the metallic boucle I used to ply it with in teal with pink, blue and yellow slubs is gorgeous, I cannot for the life of me keep tension to ply well with three strands. So even though I love the color, It will probably be made into something simple, that might hide it's spots of un-plied badness. It ended up being about 6 ounces and 163 yards.

5  I love my Scissors! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by edenkitty on: September 26, 2011 03:54:09 PM
I saw something like this floating around the internet (I thought it was craftgawker, but haven't been able to find the link) and thought that I could whip something up pretty quick!

What do you think? I can't stop wearing it! I even made a single scissor pendant for my sister, and she's almost as enamored as I am!

Who doesn't love cupcakes? Sweet and delicious, not at all nutritious (unless you have a sneaky friend who hides whole wheat or soy in EVERYTHING). I've been dreaming of cupcakes, and eating more than my fair share, so let's have some fun with it!

Let us celebrate the cupcake, make effigies in it's honor and craft our little hearts out!

This will not be a swap of actual edible cupcakes (they don't travel all that well!), but of great crafts with a cupcake theme! (if you really want to send cupcakes, talk with your partner!)

We'll be crafting a total of 5 POINTS. Please limit small 1 point items to only three of your total points. So to make it more simple, at least one Medium or Big item is required! (If you'd like to do more, let me know, and I'll try to pair off the overachieving members of the swap!)

1 BIG= 3 POINTS
1 MEDIUM= 2 POINTS
1 SMALL= 1POINT

If you need more information about how points work, there's a great little information and tips for swappers, in the swap forums!

First time swapper? Come on in! Also, if you're going to reach your 30 days before the signup period ends, but want to secure a spot, let me know! I'll make sure it's all squared away!

MAKE SURE YOU ARE ABLE TO FOLLOW THESE IMPORTANT RULES:

9  Re: Make-a-Friend Round 7 -- Summer 2011 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by edenkitty on: May 22, 2011 09:36:22 PM
I received so long ago from Amnesia, but it took forever to get the pictures the right size, I love this package! It's been amazing! Everything was wrapped so sweetly, and came with a nice note about every little thing in the package!

Here's the first part of the package!

A gorgeous counting book of woodblock prints, some great stickers that I'm in love with, adorable stationary, deco tape with deer on it, some nummy tea, a book that I've yet to read, some cute hair clips and an amazing pin!

In the bottom corner, an awesome scarf that's perfect for the weather this spring, some strawberry fabric and a little bell, a stack of red fabrics (the mushrooms you see), yarn from a trip she took, amazing pink soba noodles and a pair of chopsticks to eat them with, a bunch of tapioca bubbles and a recipe to make it, and a hand quilted pillow that my kitties have claimed as their own.

A panda sponge, an adorable hedgehog finger puppet, a bunch of bento forks (which will end up in jewelry), and some nummy candies in a hand made bag!

Little charms she sent along, the two little animals are the sweetest tinkling bells!

10  Re: Fiber Friday-May 13 2011 in Spinning: Completed Projects by edenkitty on: May 13, 2011 09:48:56 PM
So these are my first yarns from my new to me wheel! I've been having a ton of fun, I actually have five more skeins waiting for pictures to be taken, and a whole bunch of older ones, I guess I'll try to be better!

These were spun from 8 ounces of Corriedale Cross Wool Top, and then I dyed them! YAY! I love dyes, and though these are only Kool-aid, I've managed to grab a whole bunch of dye and am going to actually DYE more yarn!

This one, is super thick thin and amazing! I loved the way the colors came out! Then I wrapped that bad boy up in some reinforced metallic I got at an amazing tag sale. I actually had my sister in mind when I was spinning this, she started begging me for it! I had a great time egging her on and just saying no! Smiley Then when I had it all skeined up for her, I handed it to her and she almost cried! Cheesy She actually just finished her scarf she made from it, and it's amazing!

This one is all for me! I managed to get a great black out of food dyes! I AM SO PROUD! I think this one is a bit vampy, but I love the sparkle and the black together, and it's really just so much fun! I'm going to keep up the plying!

What do you guys think? I'm really curious as to weather it's crap or not, since my sister is wonderful, and biased!
