1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Kerri Russell in Amy Butler on: August 25, 2008 11:01:08 AM
Hey 'yall!  i saw Kerri Russell wearing this bag a while ago, and just saw it again today... which reminded me that i was in love with this style back then, and am still longing for it!  i see that it has a leather strap- almost like a leather belt was used to make the strap.  I don't know what kind of pattern to use for this, and i definitely don't think my sewing machine will stand up to sewing leather on top of interfacing on top of fabric!!

i was thinking of just using the Amy Butler Birdie Sling pattern with this fabric, but i just don't know... Do any of you have some ideas, or if you've seen anyone attempt this bag?

thanks!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Breakfast at Tiffany's stitch marker love! on: August 24, 2008 07:32:53 AM
i posted this over at the polymer clay board, but i thought it would be a disservice to my knitting group if i did not post it up here, too!

i made these little charms while i was searching for enough stitch markers to knit my Clapotis.  Now that i'm in the decrease section, i've dropped enough stitches and markers to showcase these babies here!  i made them out of Fimo, and in 30 minutes they were out of the toaster oven and on the needles!  You can see from the picture that we have:  Holly Golightly's eye mask, Paul Varjack's "9 Lives", a Tiffany's Box, Croissant, and Holly's black hat with silk scarf!  très distingué!

3  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / i'm just CRAZY about Tiffany's stitch markers! on: August 24, 2008 07:22:08 AM
i sat down to make stitch markers this week, and this is the result of what happens if you craft while watching your favorite movie!!  ...Breakfast at Tiffany's stitch markers!!  i made them out of Fimo! Here you have Holly Golightly's sleep mask, a croissant, Paul Varjack's "9 Lives", a Tiffany's box, and lastly, the pièce de résistance, her black hat with silk scarf!

I'm always top banana in the shock department!
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Day at the Beach + Lots of Shells = necklace idea! on: July 10, 2006 07:20:23 AM
After romping around at the beach this weekend i came away with a ton of shells that i want to make a necklace out of.  Tricky thing is that these shells are really really thin and fragile.  I'm a little concerned that when i string them up and wear them they will crumble.  I was thinking about using clear nail polish to coat them with before i string 'em.  Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to protect them?  Is there such a thing as a clear polyurethane spray?

Thanks!
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Name that stitch... on: April 09, 2006 11:28:37 AM
While playing around on Ettie's website today i came across this triangular shawl, and for the life of me can't figure out which stitch this is!  I think it may actually be one of three things:

1.) Hairpin Lace loom used to make this shawl
2.) Garter stitch using really really big needles
3.) Drop stitched (which begs the question, how do you make a drop stitched shawl when you increase as you go up?)

it's hard to tell by this picture, but i thought i could whip up one of these triangular shawls myself from some yarn in my mound i call a stash pile.

Any thoughts??

Shawl- It's under the "Shawls & Wraps" section, and it is the "Hydrangea" colored shawl. http://www.ettie.net/
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / NONI Bags & Flowers on: April 08, 2006 12:15:59 PM
Has anyone attempted to make any of the NONI bags or flowers?  I purchased patterns for the "Rather Large Carpet bag" and the "camellia" flower.  I haven't started knitting them yet though.  I was hoping people could post their progress or finished bags and flowers so that i could get an idea of how people have made them.  THANKS! and happy crafting!!

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Tweed Blazer- How do i make it cuter!? on: August 06, 2004 12:22:44 PM
Hello Fellow Craft Addicts-

I just went to a thrift store and picked up an awesome black and white tweed blazer that is a little too big for me (like 3 sizes) i want to make it look cute, and eventually take a thick pink ribbon and tie it around my waist.  I have noticed a ton of these chanel type blazers around the fashion world lately and i'd like to reconstruct mine.  Anyone have any advice?? THANKS!!
