1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Easy Patterns for Bridesmaid dresses on: April 04, 2008 01:23:47 PM
Hi, I was going to undertake the task of making some bridesmaids dresses. I have some sewing experience, and time to do this. I'm looking for some very easy patterns. I want them to look nice, simple, and formal. I don't want to spend days and days on each dress though. I'm not sure which fabrics will be easy to sew with and look a little more formal. I'm very open to any ideas. Does anyone have any good reccomendations for patterns, fabrics, or websites?
2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Which Janome should I buy?! 2039 vs. 3022 on: July 18, 2007 08:20:02 PM
I'm considering two different machines:

Janome 2039 for $50
Janome 3022 for $139

I'm not sure if paying the extra for one step button holes will be worth it. I don't know how often I will even sew buttons. The 2039 sounds amazing because of the price the only downside is I want a really easy to use machine and the 3022 seems the easiest, and most user friendly. If anyone has advice that would be great!

4  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Art to shirts... on: September 12, 2006 02:41:50 PM
What is the best way to take something I've drawn and put it on a shirt? This may seem dumb. Should I just scan it on my computer so I can make stencil and not ruin the art? I was thinking about photocopying it... eh maybe someone can help. I don't have photoshop, gimp isn't doing the trick, and I'm trying to make my shirt ideas a reality.

This shirt and pants have polyphonic spreee lyircs on them. I made these the other day. It was with a stencil. I thought everyone here maybe would apperciate them. I was going to trash the jeans, they had stains, but now you can't see them.

So my obsession has led to this...

It's not sooo professional. It was my first stenciling adventure though.

Sadly, I do not own photoshop, does anyone have any ideas how I can make good stencils (of things other than writing)? I only have Paint program-wise. All help is apperciated. Thanks guys and gals.

8  CLOTHING / Sewing Pattern Reviews / sewing machine on: March 29, 2006 04:55:50 PM
 Cry

I have a 20 year old Husqvarna Viking sewing machine. It refuses to work. It jams up. I also own a very cheap sewing machine that also jams. What am I doing wrong? Any reasons why my machine's are jamming? For some reason the top thread doesn't come up (stays where the bobbin is). Then the machine refuses to sew anymore.  Before I was just making holes in the fabric. I am a really new sewer. All help is apperciated.

9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / For all you dress makerss out there. on: March 19, 2006 02:45:58 PM
I have never posted on here before. I'm not much of a sewer and I would love to make a Prom Dress. I have a lot of patience and my step-mother has an amazing sewing machine. I really want a T dress, swingy 50-ish style. If anyone has any easy pattern ideas they would be a great help. I want a brown taffetta type dress, but I can't find one, so I decided to sew one. Any help would be greatly apperciated. Also to make the bottom poofy do I just use tulle? Thanks a bunch.
