I made these for a girls night a while ago. I just took regular short-shorts and added the ruffles on. I made them out of different black fabrics and left the edges unfinished as I like the look. They were a hit! I even had a drag queen buy me a drink because she liked them so much! I can't wait to wear them again, but it is getting cold here.
So I bought this beautiful vintage fabric from a local thrift store about 6 months ago. I knew I wanted to make a bag, but I decided to wait until my skill level rose to the point where I wouldn't botch it too badly. I love the way it turned out! I even took the time to topstitch the handles so they look all professional! It has a squarish bottom and I lined it in a bright tealish green jersey fabric. I wanted something large that I could use to tote all my stuff to work in: lunch, uniform and knitting. It'll all fit now! I even put a pocket in, but I couldn't get the pic to upload. The pocket is made of the flowery material.
Comments welcome!
Oops! I forgot to put in my measurments, tee hee! It's about 30 inches long, from the top of the handles to the bottom of the bag, and about 16 inches across. HUGE!
I recieved: apple notecards from srdesigns, a necklace from atsuko, a wristlet from cinderly, a lemon from javastain, and a suncatcher from ooak_diva! And what a haul! I loved everything girls, thanks so much.
So, as promised, here are the pics from the great loot yamwam sent me!
A HORRIBLE action shot of my tanktop painted with constellations. We got back from a wedding in Montana late last night, and I'm still VERY hurtin' from the drive this morning:
My very cool new journal. I forgot to take a pic of the inside cover, but it says 'astronogirl' in neat spacey writing:
A wind-up robut to tease my kitty with:
An AMAZING collection of space stamps! She must have been stalking me 'cause she knew I'd love them! There's 4 Hungarian ones (I'm Hungarian!!!), one Czechoslovakian one, one German one and one from somewhere else... I can't tell. I LOVE them:
Neat spacey bookmarks, which I'm going to share with my boyfriend:
And last but not least, my boy gawking in awe at my cute star charm bracelet. I think he's starting to love swappies, 'cause I usually share with him, hahaha!:
She also sent some cute glow-in-the-dark stars, and 2 1"pins to add to my obscene collection.
I recieved yesterday from the lovely Bobolink! She sent me one of her beautiful microscope slide pendants (as I hoped she would!)! It has two space-themed stamps, and little charms dangling down the back.
PICS!!!!
One side, with a Canadian-Hungarian Olympic stamp with a satellite on it:
The other side, a Cuban space stamp, and a view of the charms on my floor (upside-down!):
And finally, the poor action shot of the pretty charms:
Thanks so much Bobolink! I hope you get mine soon!
I'm going to be making felted cuffs/bangles. If you'd like your bracelet a bit snugger, it'll close with a vintage button. If you'd like a slip-on bangle style, it'll be decorated with a vintage button, or pretty bead, like mine below:
I have a bunch of half skeins of Noro in lots of different colourways, so your cuff will have beautiful colours. I'll need to know wrist sizes and colour preferences and whether you want a bangle or a cuff.
Oh, and my Sweat Shop company is called Reach For The Stars. I work in an observatory, so I thought it was appropriate.
I couldn't resist this! I think I'm going to have to make more of these, for me and my friends. I went to a discount fabric store near my house and found this upholstery remnant and fell in love. It's not quite as stiff as I'd like, but next time I'll just pick stiffer fabric. I LOVE the print though.
Thanks haykyn!
By the way, excuse my hideous "matching". It's so hot here and these shorts are the only ones that were clean, and the shirt matched the skirt I was wearing before... seriously.
I recieved from our lovely organizer, Sonjaboo! She sent a lovely assortment doodads: some buttons and beads, some lace trim, lots of beautiful papers and stickers, random game cards and pieces, and some lovely roving which is modeled by my kitty, Shaft:
And a pic of all the stuff and my computer:
I got really excited and spread everything all over my diningroom table!
So, as promised, here are pictures of my sea-faring package from hoxierice!
A great pleather/vinyl cuff with pictures of sea vessels behind the vinyl. She also put some tiny stars behind the vinyl too, so it adds a bit of sparkle! I absolutely love it, and I've actually been wanting a vinyl lace-up cuff for a while!
A great sea tote, which I thought I had two pictures of, one of each side, but the other pic vanished for some reason.... Anyway, this a beautiful tote with bamboo handles and she sewed bits of toille in oceany colours around the bottom, and added sequins beneath the toille! It's soooooooo cute and very well made. The other side is similar except the toille is more bluey-green and the image on the fabric is a lighthouse! I really like the sea-quins as well, 'cause they're ocean themed as well!
A beautiful Shibori silk scarf in gorgeous oceany colours! It's such a pretty, classy scarf, I love it! I've worn it out twice already!
She also made a cute octopus keychain and fingerpuppet for my boyfriend, as he's obsessed with the darn things. Those two items are at his house, lovingly displayed around his computer, so I don't have pictures of them, but know they are well loved!
