1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Swap a yard of Fabric on: February 02, 2013 06:34:54 PM
It's been a couple of years since we had the Swap a yard of Fabric Swap, here's the most recent one I could find: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=344564.0

Would people still be interested in this? Is shipping too expensive now? I would probably want to limit it to the US, which I hate to do but shipping internationally from the US is so expensive now.

Let me know!
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / More Sewing Swaps? on: January 22, 2013 12:02:07 PM
I'd really be interested in participating in more swaps with a heavy sewing focus, does anyone have plans to start some?

Some of the ones I've participated in in the past are Craft with a Fat Quarter and the Fabric Basket swaps. Even the Swap a Yard of fabric.

I do other things, but mostly sewing and like to recieve sewn items.

I don't know if I am up for organizing right now, but maybe.
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Rudolph, Grinch and Frosty felt ornaments on: December 22, 2012 10:27:27 PM
I made these ornaments for the 12 Days of Christmas swap and LOVED the way they turned out! I designed them myself, based on pictures of the characters and made them out of craft felt.

I think Rudolph is my favorite!
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Crafty ideas for Mice, Help! on: November 03, 2012 10:07:53 PM
I am looking for some ideas to craft for someone with pet mice. I don't know anything about them or what they like. I was thinking about making a hammock or tunnels out of fabric. Is that something they'd like?

I was also thinking about making a digging box, is that something mice would use?

Any help or ideas would be much appreciated!

Details of swap:
This swap is for those of us who love Geocaching and/or Letterboxing or would like to start! Both of these activities are like treasure hunts with different methods of finding the hidden geocache or letterbox. If you arent familiar, here is a description of each:

Geocaching is a techy worldwide treasure hunt using GPS technology. A geocacher hides a cache usually containing a logbook and starting with some trinkets or small items that can then be traded by geocachers that find it in the future. Many geocachers have signature items that they leave in caches that they find. There also can be traceable items in a cache that must be logged online. A cache is found using the GPS coordinates at the location where the cache is hidden.

Letterboxing is a similar, though less techy, activity combining a treasure hunt with the artistic creation of hand carved stamps. Letterboxes are found using directions and clues written by the person who hid the letterbox. They usually only contain a logbook and a stamp which is often hand carved. The hunter then stamps their own signature stamp in the logbook and the letterboxes stamp in their own book.

For more information, check out these websites:
www.geocaching.com
www.letterboxing.or g
www.atlasquest.com

For this swap, everyone will make the equivalent of 4 points for their partner as well as either 3-5 extra small items for geocachers or a hand carved stamp for letterboxers. These extra items can be purchased but it would be great if they were handmade! Extras are allowed but you may want to discuss with your partner.

By Time
-Large (3 points) = 3 or more hours
-Medium (2 points) = 2 or more hours
-Small (1 point) = 2 or less hours

By Size
-Large = A shawl, a shirt, a skirt, a set of jewelry with four to five items, a purse
-Medium = one single necklace or bracelet, a scarf
-Small = Earrings, stickers, wallets, pouches, bookmarks

By Price
-Large = $30 or more
-Medium = $10-$30 dollars
-Small = $10 or less

Some ideas for this swap would be: items for hiking, a bag to hold a partners GPS, crafted items to put into a GPS, small handmade book that your partner could use as a logbook, book to keep track of caches/letterboxes found, travel bugs or hitchhiker letterboxes, decorated compass, etc.

Also, please remember to:
-Please post weekly on the message board
-Please maintain good communication with your partner and the organizer.
-Please be prepared to post pictures of what you are sending and receiving!

7  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Papermakers: How do you dispose of waste water? on: August 28, 2009 12:21:34 PM
My boyfriend and I want to make paper and have accumulated everything to start but we don't know what the best way to dispose of the waste water is? I don't want to clog anything and the waste water still has glue, starch and paper particles in it.

How do you all dispose of the waste water?

- Does not have any negative feedback: YES

Details of swap:
This swap was inspired by Katxenas post about her postage stamp quilt, which can be seen here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=206989.0

To enable more of us to start or finish these quilts, we are going on another round of swapping these squares. In this swap, participants will cut 20, 40 or 60 (1.5 x 1.5) squares to swap with each of the other participants. The number of squares you send depends on each swappers preferences. Basically, if both swappers want 20, both send 20. If both want 40, both send 40. But, if one wants 20 and the other 40, you both send 20. If many people join I will split people into smaller groups, but plan on sending to possibly 10 people.

Please be precise while cutting your fabric squares (they should measure 1.5 x 1.5), the best way is with a ruler/guide and rotary cutter. Please only send cotton quilting fabric, no velvet, jersey, etc. For this swap, preferences are only a guideline but please try to consider partners preferences and at least send a variety of colors and patterns.

Please maintain good communication with me through PMs and the swap thread and let the other participants know when you have sent to them.

Because of the large number of packages in the swap, I will not require Delivery Confirmation numbers, but if your package does not arrive, I expect you to send a second one. Also, please take a picture of your receipt.

10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Postage Stamp/Million Square Quilt Square swap? on: February 19, 2008 09:47:20 PM
I have started saving scraps and cutting 1.5" squares to make a large postage stamp quilt after being inspired by this thread:

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=206989.0

I was thinking about starting a swap just to swap squares for this type of quilt.

Would people be interested in this?
