1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: ROLLER DERBY!!!! on: May 05, 2006 06:41:01 AM
Hey girls!

Ok...I've been eyeing this for a few days...count me in, too! I hope rookies are welcomed - I've only been skating for a couple months. I sew and dabble in screenprinting.

I'm leaving today with some other girls to go check out the Dallas Derby Devils - my first live bout! I bought the Tucson Roller Derby's DVD, and everyone on our league meets weekly before one of our skates to watch it. Are you on that, magick8ball? It's been really helpful to us!

I'll be looking out for the sign-ups on this!

Thanks everyone for the great comments! I'm glad that Stifflersmom and craft_t_chic like their beads! Yeah, they smudge pretty easily, especially when my toddler decides to grab my arm while I'm painting! I just set her up with her own paints across the table from me when that happens, though - easy fix! Grin

Here's what I sent out:

The bag is about 14"X16", and I call it "The Bag of a Thousand Curse Words".....I had to shoo the kids out of the room, at times, when I was working on it.

Hey everyone!
Thanks for all the great comments! I haven't been making many lately, but I've had a few custom orders that I've been lucky enough to get.
McJulie-O - I get those from a large craft store. I don't actually make them myself. I think that they're some kind of plastic. I've used them for years, and they have never chipped. In fact, your question made me go and snip one in half. It looks like clear plastic on the inside. Hhhmmm...I'll have to remember to change that to be more specific. I'm hoping to stock up my store a little more sometime soon. It looks a little empty now. Undecided

Cantafruit rocks! I'm finally home and was able to take pictures of her wonderful creations. I absolutely love the fabric she used for my new knitting bag. I've already stuffed it with my knitting supplies. I'm going to tote it with me to my kids' activites and get some serious knitting done!

She also made my girls a couple cute little purses, which they love! In fact, I asked my 6-year-old if she liked hers, and she said, "Well, yeah! It's, like, so popular!" She's in first grade, and I guess that kind of stuff is important. My 2-year-old has claimed the cute little bunny, but she allows her older sister to hold it sometimes.

Thanks, Cantafruit! Your stuff rocks! I'm finishing up my stuff, and I will be sending out soon.

9  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Re: How's Your etsy Shop Doing? on: March 22, 2006 06:17:05 AM
Eeeeeeeee! I would squeal out loud, but my kids are still asleep! I was hoping to land in the home page at some point! Thanks for letting me know! That's one of the necklaces my friend did, but she doesn't have a computer. I'm going to call her this morning to tell her, so hopefully she'll get a chance to see it! I'm going to be posting more today to make my shop look fuller. So much to do...so much to paint! Cheesy
Thanks Julie!!!

Thanks tvtrayart and believer10 for the great advice! I've been second-guessing myself lately, because I put so much time and effort into making the little guys. I just want to make sure that they sell. I'm hoping eveyone's sales, including mine, will pick up during spring. In the meantime, I'll just keep painting away!

OxMonkey, I love your crocheted beaded necklaces! It's taken me a while to figure out how to take better pictures. Just keep playing around, and you'll get it. Several of your pictures already look great to me!
