1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Post Secret Swap Round 5 Gallery on: June 11, 2008 08:38:01 PM
Three cards!  Yay!

"Crafts keep me alive"

"I've always wanted dreads, but was afraid of bugs"

"I joined this swap because I needed a reason to keep myself from jumping in bed as soon as I get home from work."

I received from Kimberly Pye!  I actually received on Monday, but my computer has been spazzing.  She sent me ink-jet shrinky sheets, some pink cotton yarn, and the cutest little ami pear from my wists!  I love the pear--and, evidently, so does my cat, as he keeps trying to steal it.  And I can't wait to use my shrinky sheets...

I got majorly spoiled by Klum78!  She sent 5 spools of thread, four vintage childrens' books (for collage), 5 magnetic snaps, 13 zippers, about a yard of awesome apple fabric and a bunch of those little grocery store stamps stores used to give out!  Here's the group:

Here's a close up of the zippers and thread:

The kids' books:

And those super-cool stamps:

Thanks so much Kimberly!
4  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Ongoing Wish Swap Round 35 on: June 02, 2008 02:19:29 PM
I claim Mimiw for a wisty surprise and some vegetarian recipes.  This is my first claim for this round.

My name is Elise and I live in Chicago with my three cats.  I love to sew, collage, and crochet.  I work as a mental health case manager, so crafting is my respite and stress relief.  I am allergic to sterling silver, and I cannot wear earrings of any sort, regardless of what metal.  I love swapping, and I have loved everything I've gotten so far!

Craft:
- Handspun yarn
- I LOVE totes and bags
- a wallet with several credit card slots, and a roomy change slot
- beaded bracelet or necklace
- framed (or frameable) subversive cross-stitch saying
- stitch markers
- silk-screened/stenciled t-shirts (if you claim me for this, ask me more about it)
- framed (or frameable) hand-embroidery
- a pincushion!  I suck at making them.  My current one is totally pitiful.
- soldered pendant
- a zippered pouch
- anything with birds—particularly pigeons, sparrows, or crows, but I love all kinds
- a hand-bound/homemade journal
- I love dandilions.  Make me something with dandilions on it and I will love you forever.
- Coasters
- crochet hook roll
- anything based on my wists, www.wists.com/pleaseelise

Supplies:
- yarn!  I especially love cotton yarn (Sugar n Cream, etc), but I’ll never refuse yarn 
- fabric—if anyone had some Amy Butler floating around their stash, I would so, so love them.  But other fabric is great, too.  I love batiks, anything vintage—see my wists for more examples.
- iron-on vinyl (Joann’s)
- paper ephemera (vintage flaschards, old photos, old children’s books, pretty papers, etc)
- ink-jet shrinky-dink paper (I have regular, but I want the kind I can use in my printer)
- regular shrinky-dink paper
- sublime stitching patterns
- buttons, preferably older/vintage ones—but any will do.
- if anyone has a pattern for a maxi dress, I would love it.  My size (for patterns, not in real life) is 22.  And the pattern can be used!  No problem at all.
- Old issues of sewing and crochet magazines

Extras:
- Chocolate is always good.  Always.
- Cat toys for my kitties

Thanks for picking me!

I claim CamOovas for a checkbook cover, glass beads, and a felting needle holder/keeper.

This is my 3rd claim, 2 sent, 2 received.

I'm 25-years-old and I just moved to Chicago last year.  I'm loving big city living, except I'm totally poor.  In the food vs. craft stuff debate, craft stuff wins about half the time, lol.  I own three lovely kitties, and I work with people with serious mental illness.  I love to sew and crochet, and have seriously thought about felting all the cat hair around here (and yes, I've seen that tutorial, lol).

Wish List:

6  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Post Secret Swap Round 5---- Sendouts 6/7/08 on: May 26, 2008 03:13:33 PM
Wow--secrets sent already?  Nice.  I have to think of a couple more, but I have lots of ephemera (great little shop near me is about 50% vintage ephemera!), so once I have my secrets, it shouldn't take too long to get them out.

I received from asphaltqueen!  Prepare to be totally jealous!!  Now, keep in mind that she claimed me for yarn.  I bounded up the stairs to my apartment, and saw this:

Small box, yes?  So I'm all happy and skitter into the apartment, and after wresting the tape off...it was like Mary Poppins' bag!  Here's a picture of it all:

Yes, folks, that's 20 balls/skeins of yarn.  20!!!  In one little flat rate box!!  As if that wasn't enough, she sent me a wisty surprise--

I think I almost screamed when I saw it.  I LOVE it!  And I can't wait to start crocheting all that yarn!  Thank you so much, AsphaltQueen!!

Woo!  So glad I got into this one!  I tried last time, but the swap was full.  Off to craft my postcards!

This is my second claim, 0 sent, 0 received.

My name is Elise and I live in Chicago with my three cats.  I work as a mental health professional--I totally love my job, but I barely scrape by living in Chicago.  I'm originally from VA, but moved here seven months ago.  I mostly sew and crochet, but I also love embroidery (when I have the time) and shrinky dinks.  I love Craftster and am so addicted to swaps!  I love making things for other people, and love the idea that someone made something just for me.
