1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / sugar skull ornaments on: December 20, 2007 04:20:53 PM
I tied these sugar skulls onto everyone's package last year. I like Day of the Dead crafts anytime of year.

They've faded since last year, other than that they've held up well.
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Western Christmas Stocking and Cookie Plate on: December 20, 2007 03:30:36 PM
I made these for my oldest son on his 1st Christmas, about 9 years ago. The stocking is felt and the plate is ceramic. I'm working on making my other son, 1yr old, a rudolph themed stocking... hopefully I'll finish soon.

3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Skeleton Day of the Dead Christmas Stocking on: December 20, 2007 03:15:46 PM
This is the stocking I made for my husband when we were first married. He is from Mexico, and we both enjoy the mexican culture and crafts, especially Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead), so I decided to do his stocking themed arround those things.
I never got arround to finishing the edges off, some day, maybe next year. I made my son a western themed stocking and I in the middle of making a Rudolph themed one for my youngest son.

Bad lighting in this one.

A close up... he and I in our skeleton forms decorating out skeleton tree.

This is the Harry Potter rag doll I made, I was making it to send on the little visitor swap, but then fell in love with him, and decided to send someone else. I've given it to my 4 month old, who dosn't know who Harry is yet, but likes looking at his face and sucking on his foot.

Hidden heart.

Finished the scarf!

6  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Funky Chunky Crochet Baby Hat on: July 24, 2006 01:16:00 PM
This is a hat i just made for my son, it's kind of chunky and uneven, but it was my first time attempting to crochet from a pattern, and I guess I used some pretty thick uneven yarns. the second one i made a few years ago for my other son, without a pattern, but i can't really remember how i made it so even and smooth?

Details of swap:
...This is a swap for us to make Harry Potter themed items, but this time, instead of making it for eachother, we will be making it specifically for eachother's kids. There are so many great ideas out there, potions books, character dolls, capes, wands, jewelry, wizard hats, stuffed creatures, etc... the list could go on and on, let's have some fun with this!  Cheesy

We will be making one large item and two small items, plus it would be nice if your kids would like to throw in something they've made (this could be something like a drawing or necklace- depending on their age and ability and what they want to make). You are welcome to make more, but that is the minimum ammount. Discuss with your partner and let me know if you both decide to do a different ammount than this, this would be an especially good idea for families with multible kids.

There is a long craft period, make sure that you keep up good communication with your partner during this time.

8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Day of the Dead Swap part 2? on: July 07, 2006 12:17:51 AM
How about another Day of the Dead swap (Dia De Los Muertos)? There was one last year that I missed out on. Is anyone else interested?
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Craft HARRY POTTER for our kids? on: June 07, 2006 08:01:12 PM
Hey, I've had a lot of fun crafting for the Harry Potter swaps, but not only me, my 7 year old son has watched me each step of the way. He loves looking at new posts with pictures from the Harry Potter swaps.

I was thinking that it would be cool, if there are other parents who would like to do a swap where we would trade Harry Potter stuff, but for their swap partner's kid/kids? Some ideas are wands, capes, wizard hats, spell books, tshirts, dolls, to name a few off the top of my head. It seems like there are some fun make-believe type items that we could craft, that kid's would use/appriciate more than adults. I know my son would love to recieve a swap package!

There are a couple Harry Potter swaps on right now, but maybe mid summer? What do you think?
10  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Camelot, Castle and Dragon themed Crib with Quilt on: June 02, 2006 08:23:39 PM
So, I couldn't really find any crib bumpers or blankets for a baby boys medieval room/bed, only princessy girl stuff, so i decided to make my own for my new little boy. What do you think?

this castle is at the head of the crib

this is the dragon quilt i made to match, it was sooooo difficult to work with the shiny stretchy material!

the bumper that goes arround the crib with lords and lady's

this is the reversed side of the quilt, it has scenes from Camelot

It's hard to see, but there are pockets inside the drawbridge, as well as 2 on the castle wall (well camouflaged in this image. I planned on making little dolls to go in and out of them, of knights, dragons, or royalty, but haven't had the time/energy since my little one's arrived, he's 2 months now.
