1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: An Xmas Ornament in a Week Gallery! on: December 04, 2007 11:00:17 AM
I received from sundayafternoonhous ewife, and as her pictures show, they are FANTASTIC!

My boyfriend had a medical emergency last week, so things have been a little crazy.  Luckily I was able to finally get the crafty goodies into the mail yesterday.  So sorry to be late  - hope sundayafternoonhous ewife enjoys the random package of goodies.  I'm feeling that my crafty skills are far below what the rest of you have turned out!!

All of these pictures have put me back in the holiday spirit though - thanks to all!!

Yeah...got my adorable goodies from Hawaiilove last week!  We're remodeling, so not at the house or getting mail every day, and when I finally saw the package, I was so happy.

There's a cute bracelet out of felt, a snazzy pencil case with a velvet lining and pucci-esque print exterior, and the cutest spring wristlet out of this adorable green and white placement that I've been hanging onto for years trying to think of something to make from it.  Pics to follow when I have a home to plug the camera in!! Smiley

Thanks, Hawaiilove!

Jessicakes...your things are coming!

3  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Fabric Scrap Swap (CLOSED; MAIL BY 2/05/05) on: February 13, 2005 12:31:24 PM
Whoa....I'm SUPER confused about this swap.  Not only did I TOTALLY space on the deadline to send my stuff out (sorry!!), now I'm totally confused about who to send to.

The addresses I have (which packages will go out Priority Mail tomorrow to) are:
1.  pellzin in TN
2.  littleone in TX

Are these correct?  Has anyone not yet received a package that I should send to if one of these other people has already gotten 2?

Again...sorry for the late mailing - I'm a total space cadet these days (I'm blaming it on a brand new job and being in the middle of a remodel, but there's no real excuse - I'm a spaz!)  Embarrassed

Let me know about the addresses.

I'm packing mine up now.....this is a fun swap!  Most of my pieces are pretty big (rather than scraps), so I hope my swap partners don't mind!

I've been awol from the boards due to the never ending cold/bronchitis, but I wanted to say that I got my package of goodies from JessieCakes, and will be crafting away this week!  I'll take a pic when I can.  There is some gorgeous fabric (a black Asian-themed brocade and a beautiful burgundy silk), a couple of appliques, silk flowers, and matching ribbon.  I can't wait to get sewing!!   Grin

A pic of my lovely pin from xmelinda....

Thank you so much - it's really a beauty!!

(Unfortunately I didn't get a pic of sarahdotcom's flower pin before I sent it....I'm glad it finally arrived!  The Post Man didn't explain the many types of international shipping...he just said "this is the best for such a light package," stuck the stamp on, and off it went!)
7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Last minute baking and breaking-Candy Cane Bark on: December 23, 2004 05:57:22 PM
I love this stuff too (beware...it's really addictive!).  My take is to first melt out and pour either dark or semi-sweet chocolate and pour that layer first.  Once that's pretty much cool, I melt and pour on a white chocolate layer, and when it's still wet I scatter on and press in the crushed candy canes.  The two kinds of chocolate add extra pizazz to the look of the finished bark.  You can also marble the two chocolates by pouring the white chocolate layer before the dark chocolate cools.

Put a bunch of this in a cute celophane food back and tie with a ribbon and you have a great, inexpensive holiday gift.
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: bag with hole in it for a handle, heeeellp!!! on: November 06, 2004 04:43:18 PM
I think this may also work... (I'll try this for the un-swap craftalong November purse to make sure) -

**Cut out the body pieces for your bag (using something like the Jordy pattern, but longer in length).
**Press heavy duty interfacing onto the wrong sides of the fabric.
**Mark on the wrong side where you would like your handle, trace out the desired oval shape (it would probably be easier to do it more of a rectangle).
**Cut out the oval shape from the center, pressing back the excess fabric onto the wrong side.
**Stitch around the oval 1 time.
**Repeat the above steps on all 4 purse body pieces (outer fabric and lining fabric).
**Assemble bag with lining as you would for a Jordy bag.
**When you turn it right side out, you should have the 2 ovals lined up.
**To connect the lining and outer fabric, sew around each oval again (sew on some trim or bias tape if you're really handy with the sewing machine (or hand stitch/fabric glue)).

That should give you the desired look.

Good luck!  Post pics if you're successful.

Wow...I love the coloring on the pin that Mundzer sent to xMelinda!  Is that fabric paint along the outside edge?

I'm so thrilled that you like what I sent, Paige! Smiley

The purse was my first lined bag, so I'm thrilled that you like it!  It isn't the craft that my sewing machine ate...that was another item that's on it's way in your second package.

The tins were really fun to make.  When I got your zine, I just knew I had to find some way to use the beautiful and personal words inside - I'm just thrilled that you liked them so much!!

I'll be finishing up your second box this weekend, so there's more crafty goodness to come!
