1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Any tutorials for this technique? on: February 11, 2009 11:51:36 AM
Hello Craftsters,
I am new to the Paper Crafts sections.  This post was prompted while I was browsing etsy and came across a spiral bound notebook made from an old hardback book.

I have a love for little journals and sketchbooks to write down ideas.  I carry one with me at all times.
So I was wondering if there are any tutorials out there on how to make one of these guys. It's made from a vintage book, I was wondering if anyone out there had any techniques on how I might gutt it, perforate it and fill it with blank pages.
Thanks.
2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Band posters on: April 09, 2007 10:10:42 AM
I hope this is the right spot for this, band posters are art too. I'm in a band, and we have a gig coming up and I decided to make some posters for publicity.
Sorry, it looks a bit funky, due to resizing when I uploaded it. I originally started with this image I found online, worked a little magic in Paint and then added the proper text in Powerpoint.
I'm going to print out some in full page format (for posters) and some half page format (for hand-outs).

3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / S&M Party on: February 21, 2007 02:35:36 PM
A friend of mine is having an S&M party, but don't worry, it isn't a whips and chains party.  It's for the actual "S" and "M" letters, so Skittles, M&Ms, Sexy Milk Maids, Mail Men, Sailor Moon are all things that will be at the party.  People are dressing up, as various S&M things, but the dilemma is that I don't know what to dress as.  I'm thinking Mod might be a good choice, other ideas would be appreciated!
4  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Completed Projects / Army of greek owls on: August 06, 2006 01:01:51 PM
This was my first silkcreening advnture, and all in all I think it turned out not too bad.  I was making a messenger bag, and thought that it needed to be jazzed up a bit.  So I found a cute little picture of an owl (thank you google) and screened it.  I did a bunch of them on little squares of material, and now I have no idea what to do with them all.  Oh well.

Here it is on the bag:

The lines aren't that clean, but that's okay, I kind of like it that way.
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Whoop! Best-Concert-Ever shirt! (pic obese) on: August 05, 2006 09:08:41 PM
I saw Tilly and the Wall back in June, and they only had XL in the yellow shirts, so I thought "hey! perfect crafting opportunity"  This truly was a labor of love, because this shirt reminds me of the amazing show, (which was the best concert I've ever seen.)  I used two pink t-shirts from Micheal's, and some yellow buttons.  I also stenciled the hearts on the back.

Don't worry, I WILL be wearing this with leggings.

Here's a close up of the design/boob shot.  The buttons are crooked, but not that crooked.

Here are the cute little hearts I stenciled on the back.

Thanks for looking guys! Also, I apologize for the sub-par pictures.
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Electric Blue Jumper and Black Mod Dress on: August 05, 2006 08:47:04 PM
Here are some dresses that I made a while ago, but hadn't taken pictures, until now.  They're both from a Burda pattern, I can't remember the number and I'm too lazy to go check.  But it has been floating around quite a bit lately.

Anyways, this dress is made of bright blue twill. (The real color is more accurate in the first picture)  The trim and straps are just black bias tape, there's also a zipper in the back.

Here it is with a black belt from Old Navy (I'll probably wear it like this, and maybe with a polo shirt and leggings underneath for fall/winter)

Here's my sweet Mod Dress.  I luurve it.  It's just black stretch cotton, I used bias tape on the neck, shoulders and hem.  There's also a zipper in the back, but it is completely useless (i.e. I don't need it to get in/out of the dress)  because it's stretchy, I usually just squeeze in and out of it.  I made the dress more fitted (in the waistline area) and shortened it because the shorter it is the "mod-er" it is.  (wow bad grammar).

I apologize for the shitty pictures.  I have no patience for the self-timer on my camera (you have to set it each time you take a picture, and they never look good anyways.)

Thanks all for looking, comments/criticism would be appreciated.

7  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Question: pinafores and jumpers on: July 29, 2006 03:34:12 PM
I've been seeing some great pinafores and jumpers everywhere on craftster lately (I'm sure you guys have seen them too)  and I absolutely love them!  The only thing is, I'm afraid they will be really unflattering.  Sure they look good on all the skinny craftsters, but what about us?

So if anyone has made one, I would love it if you could post a picture (or a link to a pre-existing thread).  Or if anyone has any ideas on how to make them a bit more flattering, (pleats vs no pleats, how high to make the top, pockets vs no pockets etc) that'd be sweet too.

Thanks guys.
8  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Animal Flash Cards on: June 26, 2006 06:23:56 PM
I was at Goodwill today, and I found these sweet flash cards.  I don't know what to do with them though.  I was thinking maybe making some pins/buttons/badges, since my dad just a a pin/button making machine.  Any ideas?

I have a huge stack!

I love this one. Wink
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Summer-Dress-apalooza (super pic heavy) on: June 16, 2006 02:36:42 PM
Alright, so I am obsessed with making summer dresses.  Here are some of my latests.

The Brown Dress:

The Garden Party Dress:
This one isn't hemmed yet, I was thinking of shortening it.  I also need to take it in a bit, it's a bit to big and un-fitted

The Cherry Dress:
probably my favorite, and definately the one I've gotten the most compliments on.  Woohoo for random people on the street telling me they love my dress!

Here's a fun little story.  Last Sunday night, I went to a Tilly and the Wall show, in Toronto and I was wearing the Cherry Dress.  We were in the front row, it was amazing.  After the show we hung out for a bit and met Jamie (the tap dancer)  and Neely.  She was so nice, she signed our CDs and took pictures with us...  She also said she loved my dress!  Woohoo! my idols like my clothes, best thing ever!  ANYWAYS here is a picture of a friend and I with her.  We look like death because we were about to pass out, we danced the whole show, it was intense.

10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Hilarious knitting blog (every craftster can appreciate this!) on: June 04, 2006 12:10:13 PM
A friend of mine told me about this website.

http://youknitwhat.blogspot.com/

Every entry is basically an ugly knitting project.  They are absolutely hilarious Smiley  And everyone can appreciate this, I love it and I don't even knit.  Also the blogger knits (I think)  because they know their yarn companies and the lingo - so it isn't some clueless person making fun of knitting.  Anyways, check it out.

Also, I searched the title of the blog to avoid duplicating topics, but "You"  "Knit" "What" and "Blog" are very common words, so there might actually be another topic like this one out there.  If so, feel free to delete this one.

P.S. my favorite is the rainbow with pubes gloves...seriously.
