1  Band posters in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by stretchy_elastic_band on: April 09, 2007 10:10:42 AM
I hope this is the right spot for this, band posters are art too. I'm in a band, and we have a gig coming up and I decided to make some posters for publicity.
Sorry, it looks a bit funky, due to resizing when I uploaded it. I originally started with this image I found online, worked a little magic in Paint and then added the proper text in Powerpoint.
I'm going to print out some in full page format (for posters) and some half page format (for hand-outs).

Here is our myspace.  www.myspace.com/thefirstship

2  Re: Electric Blue Jumper and Black Mod Dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by stretchy_elastic_band on: August 13, 2006 10:32:45 AM
Hey guys! thanks for all ze compliments.  The pattern number is Burda 8304.  It was very easy and very quick.  The pattern says to do a lining which is an option, but you could also just do some facing for the neck/shoulders, or use bias tape (that's what I did).I'm probably going to make some more variations on this pattern.  I love that it's so simple so anyone can play it up.  There's also view A with the crazy yoke and pockets which could be interesting.

3  Army of greek owls in Screen Printing: Completed Projects by stretchy_elastic_band on: August 06, 2006 01:01:51 PM
This was my first silkcreening advnture, and all in all I think it turned out not too bad.  I was making a messenger bag, and thought that it needed to be jazzed up a bit.  So I found a cute little picture of an owl (thank you google) and screened it.  I did a bunch of them on little squares of material, and now I have no idea what to do with them all.  Oh well.

Here it is on the bag:

The lines aren't that clean, but that's okay, I kind of like it that way.

4  Re: painted tap shoes! in Shoes: Completed Projects by stretchy_elastic_band on: June 29, 2006 07:12:20 AM
OOh!  that is awesome.  I love me some tap shoes.  I saw a band not too long ago that had tap dancers (as percussion) and they all had decorated tap shoes. It was great!  It's kind of hard to see them, but the ones at the end were the craziest-glitter and feathers. Smiley

5  Re: HALTER VEST in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by stretchy_elastic_band on: June 27, 2006 06:43:04 PM
I have a pattern for a vest almost like this - minus the tie back, but that could easily be altered.  Butterick #4915, view C is a halter.

6  Animal Flash Cards in What the heck can I do with THIS? by stretchy_elastic_band on: June 26, 2006 06:23:56 PM
I was at Goodwill today, and I found these sweet flash cards.  I don't know what to do with them though.  I was thinking maybe making some pins/buttons/badges, since my dad just a a pin/button making machine.  Any ideas?

I have a huge stack!

I love this one. Wink

8  Summer-Dress-apalooza (super pic heavy) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by stretchy_elastic_band on: June 16, 2006 02:36:42 PM
Alright, so I am obsessed with making summer dresses.  Here are some of my latests.

The Brown Dress:

The Garden Party Dress:
This one isn't hemmed yet, I was thinking of shortening it.  I also need to take it in a bit, it's a bit to big and un-fitted

The Cherry Dress:
probably my favorite, and definately the one I've gotten the most compliments on.  Woohoo for random people on the street telling me they love my dress!

Here's a fun little story.  Last Sunday night, I went to a Tilly and the Wall show, in Toronto and I was wearing the Cherry Dress.  We were in the front row, it was amazing.  After the show we hung out for a bit and met Jamie (the tap dancer)  and Neely.  She was so nice, she signed our CDs and took pictures with us...  She also said she loved my dress!  Woohoo! my idols like my clothes, best thing ever!  ANYWAYS here is a picture of a friend and I with her.  We look like death because we were about to pass out, we danced the whole show, it was intense.

9  Re: Big Ole Button down to Puffy Sleeve HOTNESS (NOW WITH TUT ON P4!!) in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by stretchy_elastic_band on: June 05, 2006 03:53:13 PM
I made one too!  But I added some (rather strange) darts in the front to make it more fitted.  The picture is kind of strange because the camera was sitting in a green glittery box, and I guess the glitter refleted into the lens.

I've also made one in black, but I have yet to photograph it.  I'm planning on making a white and a blue one. yay!

10  My first photographic works! in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by stretchy_elastic_band on: May 11, 2006 06:14:15 PM
Well, these aren't the first pictures I've taken ever, but they are the first with artistic intention.  They were for a french project, they had to represent our opinions with symbolism.

For the first, my statement was "Money can't buy Happiness"  the Fur coat represents the weath and glamour, and the sad woman is showing that even with a fur coat and pearls she's still unhappy.

The second one was sort of an accident, my dad and I were driving to Ottawa and we were taking pictures randomly out of the car windows.  I was navigating, and so I had a map on my lap- which you can see reflected in the window/rock.  Anyways, the ideas behind it are; I believe we make our own decisions and that things aren't lied out for us by a greater power, sort of destiny vs. independance.  So yes... here it is:

Hope you like 'em and thanks for looking!
