1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Inspiration swap? on: July 31, 2008 09:42:55 AM
I know there are craftster that write and paint and craft amazing cards and such, and i assume that many of them get ________________ block like I do.  I know my inspiration often comes from unexpected place and things. What if we had a swap where we swapped inspiration?  It could be pics, colors, knick-knacks, altered books, a box of mimsy's, anything you felt would be inspirational, allong with one or  two medium items that you crafted as a comfort or reminder of creativity?

Am I  off in la-la land or does this idea appeal to anyone else?
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Jewelry a year in the making! on: May 30, 2008 10:01:51 PM
I never make jewelry for myself, I always make it and give it away.  But about a year ago I bought some beads for myself and promptly lost them.  I found them this past week and they finally became the projects they had been envisioned.  Grin (although they still need clasps!   Roll Eyes)

Earth Goddess - Unkanite and Leopard Jasper

Voodoo Queen - Carved Bone, Vintage Jet, Amber drops, and matte seed beads

My Grandmother's Cameo Reborn - My grandmother had this cameo for as long as I can remember, she told me it was a gift from her father's mother when she got married. When I was a kid, I loved looking at it. I was going through a bag of jewelry my grandmother gave me after my oldest was born and I found the cameo at the bottom without the necklace she had always worn it on.  I hide it away not wanting it to get lost or broken.  On one of my last trips to my local bead store, they had all these gorgeous vintage beads and this one set reminded of of glass I had been cataloguing in my Archaeology Lab.  When I got it home I realized that it would look perfect with the cameo.  So ramble over her is the only one of my new necklaces with a clasp -

Close up of the cameo and beads, but mostly the cameo Smiley -

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / End of the Year presents for teachers! on: May 30, 2008 09:50:58 PM
My daughter is a tough kid to have in your classroom. She is really smart, creative, and has a temper and a strong sense of justice to go with it.  She had a really rocky start to her year and put the teachers through the ringer, but they took it all in stride and worked with her to make sure she stayed engaged appropriately in class.  So at the end of the year I made them lunch and tuck in a surprise in to their respective bags.  One teacher is an artist as well as a teacher and the other is from the islands and is starting her own literacy program there.

Pearls, Red Jasper, Turquoise, and Black Glass with Sterling Clasp

Indian Agate and Copper

They both said they liked them. I really didn't want to give away the Copper one, I was/am in love with it, but I know the teacher will get more wear out of it than I would.
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Memorial Day + Sick = Much prettiness! IMG Heavy on: May 30, 2008 09:42:42 PM

Jade and Freshwater Pearls

Vintage Glass - More green in person

Vintage Glass - More smoky in person

Double Stranded Choker - Vintage Glass -

Id Badge Lanyard thing - #2 - Vintage Glass

What do you think?   Productive, no?
5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Crafting for classrooms? on: May 27, 2008 12:16:59 PM
My sweetie is a teacher and constntly asking me to craft up things for his classroom for less than they cot from those catalogues of manipulatives, or because there just isn't the 'right' thing out there.  I have noticed there are lots of teachers or relatives/friends of teachers on Craftster and was curious if anyone would be interested in a swap where we made things for classrooms.

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Help a beginner out? on: November 16, 2006 07:03:07 PM

8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / I have a disease Round 2? on: November 05, 2006 05:19:26 PM
I completely missed round 1 and finally have a firm diagnosis on what's wrong with me and was thinking another round of this swap might be just what the dr. ordered.  I would be willing to try my hand at organizing, I think.  So anyone interested?
9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / An Octopod can dream can't he? on: October 25, 2006 03:48:01 PM
A friend of mine tapped me as an artist to do art for a charity auction. I was not too please cause I so don't consider myself and artist.  The theme was cigars as the art is getting auctioned off with a small number of hand made cigars.  So I embroidered some art.  I hand drew it all, crayola-d the back of the fabric and mounted it on wood.   I am pretty pleased with myself, took 8 straight hours of embroidery. (Major time crunch, part of why I got tapped was all the real artists were doing other projects and unavailable)  This is the 7th piece of embroidery I have done. I was majorly pleased with how neat I kept it (my daughter thought the back was the front), this is also the biggest piece I have done.   Grin Grin Grin  What do ya think???

10  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Please help! I need ideas ! on: October 24, 2006 06:10:18 PM
I am on the community outreach board at my daughter's elementary school.  It is a constructivist school, and as part of the ideals of constructivist education, we are trying to come up with various projects that the kids could do for their community and as world citizens.
We want the kids to craft partially so they have a sense of accomplishment and ownership.  The school goes from K-5 and we can do different things with the different ages, but we want to get all of them involved.

I know the fine craftsters on here do alot of charity work and I need ideas!  Please help me?
