1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Zombie-fying an existing stuffed animal? on: September 21, 2008 09:37:25 AM
For my boyfriend's birthday, I'd like to give him a zombie monkey or tiger, but being a broke college student, I'm lacking in both time and money so I figured I'd just modify an existing tiger or monkey stuffed animal to make it a zombie.

I have a couple ideas for how to do this, but I figured I'd ask you guys too. Has anyone attempted this in the past, or have ideas for how to properly zombie-fy a stuffed animal?
2  COOKING / Dessert / Re: 5 Minute Delish Chocolate Cake on: July 26, 2008 09:04:01 AM
Wow. I tried this last night after looking up various other microwave cake recipes, and was pleasantly surprised. All the OTHER recipes showed pictures of a very tiny, deflated, dense cake sitting in a mug... Mine was huge and fluffy and much darker than any of theirs, although that last part might relate to the type of cocoa I used.

Definitely more than a one person serving, and great with whipped cream. My only complaint is that I added some chocolate chips into the batter, and they all sunk to the bottom. Wouldn't try that again.

Forgive me for sounding stupid, but what kind of rising agent did you use?

How on earth did you cut them that thin? That's amazing.

Ooh, pretty colors. Do you think the darker/brighter shades they have would work on unbleached hair? (My hair isn't very dark, or very light... I rarely bleach it, but Special Effects doesn't really require that anyway...)

i have been dying my hair regularly (with the exception of time spent in the military, with a crew cut) for eight years now.  everyone has given some pretty good advice, but i would like to share with you all the best hairdye i have come across. i've used manic panic, special effects, rage whatever, beyond the Zone, and i used to use Splat when it was still on the market.  but this stuff has given me far better results.  its called Adore.  i get it from here http://www.texasbeautysupplies.com/creatimadsem.html.   i've found it produces brighter colors on bleached hair.  Its liquid, though, and not a gel, so its a bit difficult to get used to applying it on your head if you are accustomed to a gel or paste like many of the dyes you can get without a license.  here's their Purple Rage on me, after being washed 8 times:

Wow, they have a lot of colors. Do you know if there's a place where they show what each color looks like?
7  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Doctor Who and TMBG! on: April 30, 2008 12:36:29 PM
Both of those are absolutely amazing! My boyfriend is a hug Doctor Who fan (while I'm just a huge David Tennant fan *sigh*), as well as a humongous TMBG fan. Therefore, I praise you on so many levels and desperately want to make these myself! In fact, I'd like to take your idea further and make the whole TMBG band, or even the major cast of Doctor Who. Wow, what a great job! Could I maybe get some sort of pattern, pretty pretty please?
I actually have a friend that wants the same, so once I get it for her I'll just paste it here!

Yaaay, thanks!

And... hmm, I bet real David Tennant would be just as, if not more huggable, but since the in-person version is unavailable, this is a good alternative!  Cheesy

For months, I lacked inspiration and motivation to make stuff, but I finally got around to doing things, thanks to They Might Be Giants and Doctor Who.

(sorry for the big pics!)

So, first off... for those unfamiliar with TMBG, they do a weekly podcast showing videos for their kids songs, hosted by puppet versions of themselves. I love them, especially John Linnell, so I made myself a Puppet John Linnell plush!

Then, this past weekend, I decided I absolutely needed a 10th Doctor of my very own to snuggle.

I already have several friends begging for Doctors of their very own!

Aww, they make me so happy.

I love the Tattoo Factory! I had a great experience there a year ago, and as soon as I have the money I'm going back to get a Vonnegut quote on my ankle...
