1  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / *EDIT* Removing and re-dyeing eyelet dress on: April 16, 2011 06:56:51 AM
Thanks for the initial help with my dyeing question...I have bought this dress in light pink:

http://www.belk.com/AST/Main/Belk_Primary/Juniors/Shop/Dresses/CasualDresses/PRD~18015501361162/Red+Camel+Woven+U+Neck+Dress.jsp?off=30

The under layer is a coral color and the overlay is a super light pink eyelet.  The tag lists it as 100% cotton throughout.  I really want a yellow dress.  Is there any hope for being able to remove the color enough to then re-dye it yellow??
2  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / Where to buy PhotoEZ or StencilPro? on: June 18, 2010 05:35:05 PM
Does anyone know of any chain craft stores that carry PhotoEZ or StencilPro items?  I found them online, but shipping is quite pricey, so it would be great if I could find them at JoAnns, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or AC Moore...
3  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Discussion and Questions / Picture This Transfer Medium? on: June 18, 2010 03:46:21 PM
Hi all!  I am looking to make shirts for an organization I am in to avoid the crazy high costs of getting them screen printed.  I've looked at getting my own screen printing stuff, but it would be nice to be able to simply and easily get multiple colors in the design.  But, transfer paper always seems so plastic-y and I've had a lot of trouble with it peeling off.  So, I was wondering if anyone has used the Picture This Medium by Plaid, or a similar product.  Does it make the transfer stiff or likely to come off quickly?
Just trying to figure out my best option for getting these shirts done.  Thanks!
4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: One Tiny Sea Creature on: June 11, 2010 11:22:13 AM
My lovely sea creature came yesterday!  I was pretty obvious about my love for turtles, and blupaisan and I both agreed that we liked functionality.  So she made me the perfect thing--a turtle clock!! (I'm glad it didn't get destroyed in the mail or anything--the ticking was a bit loud and could have been mistaken for something a bit more...errr....dang erous!)

First, it met Honu, the stuffed turtle.

Then, it had to be approved by Picasso, the real turtle.  He's a big fan, because it will help me remember what time to feed him.

And here's what the edges look like, with lots of little turtles in different positions:

And last but not least, a lovely little note with a precious hand drawn sea turtle!

I couldn't have asked for a better gift for my first ever swap--thanks for making it great, blupaisan Smiley

so, just to clarify...does my project need to represent just one sea creature (like a fish plushie or a seahorse necklace), or can it sort of be a beach/sea life themed thing in general?  Does that even make sense?  I just don't want to mess up on my first swap  Undecided
