1  Re: One Tiny Sea Creature in The Swap Gallery by CraftyGal13 on: June 11, 2010 11:22:13 AM
My lovely sea creature came yesterday!  I was pretty obvious about my love for turtles, and blupaisan and I both agreed that we liked functionality.  So she made me the perfect thing--a turtle clock!! (I'm glad it didn't get destroyed in the mail or anything--the ticking was a bit loud and could have been mistaken for something a bit more...errr....dangerous!)

First, it met Honu, the stuffed turtle.

Then, it had to be approved by Picasso, the real turtle.  He's a big fan, because it will help me remember what time to feed him.

And here's what the edges look like, with lots of little turtles in different positions:

And last but not least, a lovely little note with a precious hand drawn sea turtle!

I couldn't have asked for a better gift for my first ever swap--thanks for making it great, blupaisan Smiley

3  Painted ipod inspired Tiles in Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects by CraftyGal13 on: August 19, 2008 10:48:31 AM
I really hope this is the right board...if not, feel free to move it!  I worked a paint your own pottery studio this summer, so I painted a few things.
These are tiles that I painted to hang as a wall decoration.  I put down stickers for the words and painted over them, then peeled them up to leave white letters.  The black pictures were done with stencils that I cut out with an x-acto knife.

4  Flip flops turned dressy sandals! in Shoes: Completed Projects by CraftyGal13 on: August 11, 2008 01:04:34 PM
I started with a pair of kitten-heel flip flops...

nd cut some fabric out of an old stretchy camisole. I tacked it on the bottom of the shoes (the tacks are now more silver/black because the white color coating came off after walking in them a bit) and then gathered it in the middle with some string...

This is my first attempt at shoe reconstruction...a little amatuer with the thumbtacks, but I'm very pleased with the overall look!

5  The Anne Elliot Spencer! in Knitting: Completed Projects by CraftyGal13 on: June 26, 2008 06:25:19 PM
It's done!  I am in loooove with this little cardigan!  I had to modify it for a smaller bust size and I knit it on size 4's.  Also, the scalloped edging is a knit pattern, not the crochet that the original uses.  I'm so happy with how it turned out!

6  Hawaiian Lei Socks--My first socks! in Knitting: Completed Projects by CraftyGal13 on: March 07, 2008 10:31:04 AM
OK, I've actually made another pair, but they were knit flat on size 11's and seamed, and they're more like slippers anyway. Wink

The pattern is from the 2008 Knitting Pattern a Day calendar and I used Senso Harlequin crochet cotton.  Enjoy!

7  Jumpin on the Fetchings bandwagon! in Knitting: Completed Projects by CraftyGal13 on: March 07, 2008 10:27:58 AM
I've been knitting for 3 years and still hadn't made the quintessential fetchings!  So I decided to change that...made with 1 skein of bernat cashmere blend.

9  Rowan Studio Collection in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by CraftyGal13 on: January 16, 2008 06:39:02 PM
Does anyone happen to have any of the Rowan Studio Collection books?  I'm looking for the "Twisted Jumper" but I don't know which issue it's in.  Here's a picture:

Thanks!

10  I want to replicate the sweater in this picture.... in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by CraftyGal13 on: January 13, 2008 04:39:30 PM
I love this sweater that I saw online...

The description says it's 4 pieces with a twist in the middle, which sounds easy enough to me.  But my question is, if the middle is twisted, then won't one side of the twist show the right side of the work and the other side show the wrong side?  I'm assuming it's stockinette, although I can't tell from the picture.  Thanks!
