Here's my second handmade purse. I used fabrics from IKEA and I'm really pleased with the way it turned out. Sure, I broke the needle on my sewing machine, but I have plenty of spares and this purse will meet my needs. It's big enough for my wallet, cell phone and a book!

Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions you craftsters make!

I made a basic apron last night using some fabric from IKEA. For some reason my sewing machine left loops at the back of each stitch. Does anyone have ideas on how to fix/change that? I'm thinking of adding a pocket to the next one I make and being mor ecareful about keeping the hemlines even. Any suggestions or comments are much appreciated! Thanks!

I made these two pins for a friend of mine. They look a little "purple" in the picture, but they're actually bright pink. The tutorials for them can be found at (http://mollychicken.blogs.com/my_weblog/2005/10/corsage.html) and (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=24944.0).

They're both really simple and turn out really nice looking. Thanks to racehorse87 for pointing me in the direction of the second tutorial!
5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Rubber Stamp Swap on: February 06, 2006 06:36:24 PM
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a rubber stamp swap.

Ideas for swap items include:

1. New and/or gently used rubber stamps.
2. Rubber stamp making supplies
3. Paper, inks, and other materials used for rubber stamping
4. Rubber stamped items.

I'm just wondering if anyone would be interested in something like this. If so, please comment or PM me. Thanks!
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My First Purse! (3 pics) on: February 03, 2006 02:46:05 PM
I received a sewing machine for Christmas and I picked up Burda pattern 8235 to try to make a simple purse/bag. Unfortunately, the fabric I choose did not agree with my sewing machine at all, so I had to hand sew it all. I misunderstood the pattern at some points, but now I feel confident that I could work from the pattern again and do well with it. Anyway, here are pictures of the bag. Any comments or helpful hints would be much appreciated!

7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Father-In-Law Gift Woes on: February 02, 2006 02:04:05 PM
My father-in-law is a retired Navy officer and now does lots of handyman work around his house. Other than that he tends to be very reserved and doesn't have many hobbies that I know of. My husband isn't very close with him, so he's not very good with gift suggestions. I was wondering if anyone here had crafty suggestions for fathers/handymen? I could really use the help. Thanks.
8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Harry Potter-themed Valentine on: January 23, 2006 07:23:54 PM
This year I decided to indulge my Harry Potter loving friends and surprise them with a Harry Potter Valentine. The front of the card looks like a typical Valentine, but the inside contains a surprise.

I'm going to write "Have a howling good Valentine's Day!" on the inside. I hope my friends will like them and that it gives some of you craftsters an idea!
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Book Nerd Package (Kinda Image Heavy) on: January 19, 2006 10:37:37 PM
I wanted to send a package off to a friend to show off my crafty talents and give her things she would really like, so I decided to make something based on ideas I got from the Reading is Sexy swap. (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=42201.0)

I made bookplates and back of the book pockets that are all adhesive thanks to the wonders of my Xyron. I made 24 each of the bookplates and the pockets, but I didn't think that a picture of the stacks there in would do a nice job of showing off how they look.

I also decoupaged a picture frame using torn out book pages and decorative paper. In case you couldn't tell, my friend likes pink, brown and Harry Potter. Smiley

Tomorrow I'm going to work on using ribbon and tissue paper to package everything up nicely along with the date stamp and ink for the due date card and then I'll send it her way. I hope that she'll like it and any comments on things to improve would be greatly appreciated.
10  California / California: South / Orange County Craft Fair/Show on: January 15, 2006 11:02:30 AM
I'm new to the area and the only craft shows I've seen were ones held at Christmas (Sugarplum, etc.) and I was wondering if anyone could point me to fairs or shows that take place during other times of the year.

Also, with the exception of national chains like JoAnn's and Michael's, the only craft stores I've been to around here are Tall Mouse and Scrapbook Oasis (in Irvine). I was wondering if anyone had any local shops to suggest. Thanks!
