1  Re: More Book Purses in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Mimi055 on: December 21, 2005 05:23:52 AM
I really love your book purse with handles.  How do you make the lining?  The Reader's Digest is cute too.

How funny that there are other book purses on here!  I've been making these for some time now, but with a bit different take on it than I've seen here.

This is an old vintage book that I transformed into a tiny handbag.  I made the handles out of old wire hoops, and wrapped folded fabric around to cover it, as well as fatten it up.

The inside is made from vintage fabric that I tea stained to give it a more antique look, and match the cover of the book better.

And then this is a Reader's Digest that I'm playing with.

I made handles for it out of grosgrain ribbon and rubber tubing, but need to get an eyelet puncher before I attach them.  Instead of gluing them in, I'm going to tie the loose ends of the ribbons in bows through the cover.

Also, I made a little pocket for cards and loose cash.
