2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Violet Points Scarf from handspun on: June 14, 2009 02:18:14 PM
I spun this yarn from a bamboo batt from Loop at etsy, and crocheted it into a scarf using this pattern:

The pattern is a lot of fun. I highly recommend it!
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Tawashi Mania on: June 14, 2009 02:11:27 PM
I've been bitten by the tawashi bug and can't stop.

Patterns are in Japanese but have charts.

carrot and octopus http://konezumiya.ocnk.net/product/644 (these are mitts)

There are other patterns - all using the same basic shape:

berry http://konezumiya.ocnk.net/product/882

You could use your imagination and make lots of other objects using this shape! It's quick, fun and useful. Tawashi are great for washinig dishes, counters, dusting furniture....I like to use the cheap-o Red Heart acrylic because it cleans better than cotton and dries out faster.  You don't even need detergent or cleanser. Great for getting grease off your stove!

And with these cute shapes, your kids will enjoy helping.....well maybe !
4  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Fantail Stitch scarf on: February 13, 2009 10:49:03 PM
This scarf is made from my handspun yarn from 7 baby cakes from Loop on etsy. I dont recall the yardage I got. The scarf is on the small side. But its really pretty and sparkly! Its just your basic shell stitch alternated with a row of chains and SCs and HDCs. The stitch is called Fantail Stitch from the Harmony Guides - 300 Crochet Stitches (Vol. 6 of the Harmony Guides)

5  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Super coils with Cotswold Locks on: December 29, 2008 06:22:29 PM
I call it "Autumn Longing." Only 6 yards but lots of fun!

Made from one of my own drum carded batts, with hand dyed Cotswold locks tail spun in with the coils.  Alpaca, merino and angora
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Sparkly Scarf on: December 29, 2008 06:10:32 PM
The scarf here is just a simple mesh pattern, but the yarn is from a Loop batt and then handspun by me.  I added fringe made of plastic rings with single crochet around them, then added a length of chain and attached at different lengths to the scarf ends.

I spun lengths of sequins into the yarn as I made it, and it is corespun around a crochet thread to make it last longer.

7  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Floribunda Rose - freeform hat on: December 29, 2008 05:41:07 PM
I handspun the yarn and then dyed it, and made this freeform hat;

My first attempt at a freeform object!  It's a lot of fun!!!  The wool is Corriedale and Wensleydale, and was some of my first handspun from last spring.
8  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Patterns by Dot on: January 05, 2008 05:34:40 PM
does anyone know what has happened to Dot Matthews, who created the Yee-Haw lady hat and many other hats featured in Cool Crocheted Hats and other places?  She has not updated her website in a long time.  I just wondered if she's OK.
9  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Has anyone crocheted a human head? on: July 08, 2006 04:05:57 PM
I'm trying to figure it out as I go and it's not easy.  If anyone has done this or knows of a pattern for a human head, please help!  Heads are shaped weird!
10  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Cheap Yarn at Garden Ridge on: May 24, 2006 07:14:11 PM
If there is a Garden Ridge near you, go and see if they have cheap yarn.  The one near me has tons of yarn for $1 per skein, and it's high quality stuff.  Molash, Mexicana and Cat's Meow Paradiso!  Lots more -- all for $1.00 each.  These yarns retail for 7-8 dollars each.  Grab them before I do!
