1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Violet Points Scarf from handspun on: June 16, 2009 01:33:23 PM
Thanks!  yes, bamboo is a bit tricky to spin -- it's rather slippery until you get the hang of it. But bamboo yarn is so nice and soft!

3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Violet Points Scarf from handspun on: June 14, 2009 02:18:14 PM
I spun this yarn from a bamboo batt from Loop at etsy, and crocheted it into a scarf using this pattern:

The pattern is a lot of fun. I highly recommend it!

I've been bitten by the tawashi bug and can't stop.

Patterns are in Japanese but have charts.

baby http://konezumiya.ocnk.net/product/883
carrot and octopus http://konezumiya.ocnk.net/product/644 (these are mitts)
chicken http://konezumiya.ocnk.net/product/635
lemon http://konezumiya.ocnk.net/product/881
orange http://konezumiya.ocnk.net/product/880
panda http://konezumiya.ocnk.net/product/886
bear http://konezumiya.ocnk.net/product/888

There are other patterns - all using the same basic shape:
basic shape: http://konezumiya.ocnk.net/zoom/5693
pig http://konezumiya.ocnk.net/product/885
berry http://konezumiya.ocnk.net/product/882
another chicken http://konezumiya.ocnk.net/product/878
strawberry http://konezumiya.ocnk.net/product/877
penguin http://konezumiya.ocnk.net/product/879

You could use your imagination and make lots of other objects using this shape! It's quick, fun and useful. Tawashi are great for washinig dishes, counters, dusting furniture....I like to use the cheap-o Red Heart acrylic because it cleans better than cotton and dries out faster.  You don't even need detergent or cleanser. Great for getting grease off your stove!

And with these cute shapes, your kids will enjoy helping.....well maybe !

7  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: spiral granny squares on: June 14, 2009 11:46:24 AM
how did you do the modification to close up the holes? I mean, how many stitches did you add?

I guess I could count them but I'm lazy!

What a great idea!  These would make cute earrings or lapel pins.
10  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Fantail Stitch scarf on: February 13, 2009 10:49:03 PM
This scarf is made from my handspun yarn from 7 baby cakes from Loop on etsy. I dont recall the yardage I got. The scarf is on the small side. But its really pretty and sparkly! Its just your basic shell stitch alternated with a row of chains and SCs and HDCs. The stitch is called Fantail Stitch from the Harmony Guides - 300 Crochet Stitches (Vol. 6 of the Harmony Guides)
