1  Tube top w/ lace and ribbon. YAY! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by larissathegreat on: February 02, 2008 01:46:34 PM
This is my first project with my new dress form! =)

It's more form fitting than it looks. The torso on the form isn't long enough, so it bunches up at the waist on it. But it doesn't look like that on me!

There are 4 of the little chinese symbols, but only 3 are pictures. They are spaced out 7 inches apart. =)

Here it is!

2  Prom 2008! in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by larissathegreat on: January 28, 2008 08:04:25 PM
I've decided that this year I want to make my OWN prom dress.. =)

I'm super excited.

I've made a few dresses before, but I used patterns.

But for this project (and for future use) I bought an adjustable dress form on eBay! WOOHOO!!!!

My inspiration for my dress came from this thread:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=15736.0

Here's my sketch:

What do you guys think?

I've decided to make the ribbons all solid, no patterns.

And I just might possibly make them all the same width. (I'll buy some wider ones just to try it out, but I like the idea them all being the same width, just different shades)

And I don't plan to completely cover the top with ribbon, a little white will be poking through.

I *might* put a couple layers of tulle underneath to make it a little poofy, but not overly poofy. My dress last year was very princess-y.. white pink and purple.. so i'm going completely opposite this year.

The pattern I have envisioned is just a circle skirt and two rectangles to make the tube top. Does that sound about right?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated =)

Thanks!!!!

4  Re: 'Relationship Journal' in Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage by larissathegreat on: February 10, 2006 08:52:36 PM
Here, I took my stab at the relationship journal thing!

It's a present for me, disguised as a present for him!!! He's going to fill it out about me and then this summer i'm going to take it back. haha!

I plan to make another one and i'll fill it out about him then give it to him :-P That way i'm not completely taking away his present without replacing it!

:-D

I made this sewing apron:

After finishing it I realized there was a MUCH easier and MUCH quicker way to do it that would have made it look better. Too late now. haha. Oh, I also braided the ties so make them stronger.

And over the weekend I bought some crayola fabric crayons. So here's my test with them:

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a262/kewlimo/tshirt.jpg

I just did a doodle on on a piece of paper. Hence the tree a kindergardener would draw! I put it on an old crappy stained shirt. I also got a piece of white scrap fabric and did a line of each color to see how they turned out (the colors look different once ironed) I think they work relatively well. I've figured out some ways to use them better, though Smiley

I also re upholstered the old icky chair the people who used to live in this house left. I also plan to paint it white.

I'm not 100% sure how I feel about the fabric. I mean, I love the fabric! Just maybe not on this chair. It might look better once painted. Idk.

6  Help! Fitting a corset-style shirt in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by larissathegreat on: January 22, 2006 05:19:11 PM
So, I made this shirt:

Following a tutorial I found here on craftster (I didn't bookmark the link)

But it doen't fit in the bust (like, it's REALLY open on the top) any idea how to fix that?

Also, inbetween each ribbon tie, it bunches up. Should I put a ribbon loop inbetween every other one?
