1  My crazy 9 patch * now with link to tutorial* in Quilting: Completed Projects by jaybirdiscrafty on: November 11, 2008 06:33:17 PM
I made this with fabric from my stash. I did buy the black after I was finished because the colors were overwhelming. I think it looks like stained glass.
There is a good tute here: http://allsorts.typepad.com/allsorts/2006/10/crazy_about_qui.html

Ok here is what I received from retro-redux.  She absolutely spoiled me rotten.

Here is everything in the box all wrapped up in christmas paper.  Like Christmas all over again!! YIPPEE

Here is everything unwrapped.

Button Betty the sock monkey wearing my kick ass vintage button necklace and leather and button bracelet.  Give it up Betty!!

A rockin' stamped skully shirt with punk rock cuts.

A felt cake (which will be a pincushion), Chocolate wafer cookies that are dipped in white chocolatewith peppermint candy on top and some beautiful cards she made!

Cool magnets that have images from either old movies or novels.  They rock.

A binder, some card holders, and (prepare yourself) a giant envelope full of epherma(sp?) and supplies to make my own ATCs... it's a DIY ATC kit.  She is the best!!!!!

My very 1st ATC!!!!!

Thanks so much Laura!!!  You have been beyond generous!!  I am spoiled.

8  1st time quilter in Quilting: Discussion and Questions by jaybirdiscrafty on: January 05, 2007 11:35:37 AM
Tomorrow I attend my very first quilting class.  We will be making Heart & Soul.  It uses an X-Blocks pattern by Quilt Queen Designs.  I spent 2 hours at the local quilt store talking to the owner and picking out my fabric.  It was a very nice experience.  I am excited to start.

I received from Conley today. OMG I am amazed by all the things she sent.
1. There is a painted hoodie.  It has her interpretation of Venus since I love painting and pinups.  The banner behind her says "Naked as a Jaybird is crafty"
How cool is that?  But wait there is more.  She has covered her naughty bits with balls of yarn and a granny square.  She is holding a crochet hook.  Conley you covered all the bases!  You rock!!
2. She sent a sock monkey with Jaybird embroidered on her chest.  She is my first sock monkey.

3. A great bag big enough for my junk. (painting crap, books, hooks, yarn)  It has Jayird embroidered on it,too.  And a cool birdy lining!!  Pockets, pockets everywhere!!!

4. Coffee Drinkin Hat!!  It has earflaps so I will not hear the masses trying to speak to me . It has Jaybird so those creeping up behind will know who I am.  The pompoms are to stuff in the mouth of those trying to disturb me before my first cup!!  LEAVE ME ALONE!!  I NEED COFFEE!!!

She also included a Tiki Gods of Homework statue fir my son, Drey.  It will insure only good things concerning schoolwork and deadlines as long as he sacrifices his school lunch dessert/afterschool snack.

To top it all off, Conley sent a letter to explain each item and the signifigance behind it.  She is a talented writer and I will keep this letter.  You are amazing Steph.  Thanks so much.

Amazing painting on the hoodie!

Jaybird monkey and killer bag with embroidered Jaybird and birdy lining

The "Don't bother me until I have had my Coffee" Hat with pompoms for choking you if you do bother me!!  This is the funniest!!
