291  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / New tote bag swap, anyone? on: June 24, 2006 06:34:17 PM
Hi. I'm very new to this whole swap thing. I noticed that there have been totebag swaps and in fact that one that has already closed is going out as we speak. I was wondering if there plans for another soon. If so, what are the themes, guidelines, etc? I'd even be willing to help organize if I could learn the essentials of doing so. How about a theme of totebags made from either recon-ed materials or unsual (but durable) materials?

So, what's the verdict? Is this happening soon?

Wow. Sounds like a scupture project. I wish I had such abilities. Do you still produce these for sale?

Really? I never would of thought of jacking the models from a store like Victoria's secret. Too bad my mall city's mall is so closely guarded....grrr. How did you alter them tho? Are they now more or less the size of a real person?
It's funny that you said your friends can't take you anywhere because your a clothes personalizer; me too. It's silly how some people (even some of my best friends) get all weirded out just cuz I don't look like I shop at abercrombie, hot topic or macy's. I swear if it weren't for thrift shops, telegraph ave and all of san francisco (and of course those wonderfull little gems of stores that close because of a lack of business from the masses) I wouldn't have quite the wardrobe that I do. There's nothing better to me than scoring a genuinely unique item a cool but relatively unkown shop, taking it home and altering it to be even more suited to my style.

I love the scarf to skirt idea. Yeah, I make out like a friggin bandit at store liquidations...too bad they don't happen more often...?...BTW, that whole outfit is very rockstar!

I don't think I could organize because I've never participated in one before, but I'm definitely down to join in on it! Anybody else? Is there someway we should promote this idea as to grab more participants?

I LOVE it. Also, having been a little kid in the 1980's I have a softspot for almost anything with Care Bears on it. Isn't it funny how all the pattern packets Mc Call's put out from like 1965 to like 1989 feature sketches on the front of women and girls with freakishly long legs?

I totally <3 this idea. I personally have never done a swap before because I never eally saw any that intersted me. But this idea totally rocks! How 'bout an all-red swap? Anybody down? I have a crapload of red yarn at my disposal right now (ok at least 4 or 5 skeins)....
