my LYS just finished up with an Afghans for Afghans drive where donations of warm cold weather items were sent over seas. Now they're doing hats for HeadHuggers. You can always donate to an organization that isn't local.
They look great!

4  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: I have this dress.... on: September 26, 2007 01:47:25 PM
Aww, don't worry. Logan's Run is a classic.

Okay nobody probably saw this movie...so it is a ridiculous suggestion, but the dress TOTALLY reminds me of the ones the women in the movie Logan's Run wear!!! You could be that chick from there and have a blinking dot on your hand, etc...
Yeah so I hope there is at least one person out there who knows what I am talking about   Wink

7  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: Ripple along on: September 10, 2007 01:04:29 PM
it depends on your gauge and which pattern you use. find a pattern you like and it should tell you how much yarn you can expect to use

Wow really beautiful colors. It looks great tied up.

Do you think you could have gotten the same results with just machine washing and drying? That's what I've done with my acrylic blankets in the past with good results b/c I'm too lazy to block.

for me just washing the acrylic when i've completed a project softens it up enough to relax into behaving. i'm sure pinning it down for blocking just makes it extra tidy until the blanket gets used.

I started my six point ripple 3 weeks ago. Our summer here in the SF Bay had been pretty mild, but of course nature figured out I was crocheting under a growing blanket so the past week has been too hot to make much progress. Go figure.
