531  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Selling a Scarf on: January 18, 2006 11:28:11 AM
One of my friends recently requested that I crochet a scarf for her.  It's going to be about 63 inches long and 7 inches wide with 7 inch wide tassles.  She said she would buy yarn for it.  So my mama told me I should charge her $15 dollars for labor.  Does that sound about right?

I didn't use a pattern, but I am sure I could whip one up for this snood! It was an experiment and I really like the end result! I wanted to get a better shape at the back than some of the patterns I've seen, and so I frogged a lot and took mental note. Sometimes I think I crochet in my sleep!!! hahaha, or maybe I fall asleep crocheting?!? Anywhoo, I'll try to put one together in a day or two! Grin

thanks.  my pattern resources are limited.  but the good news is my mama's friend, she's about 83, has tons and i mean tons of yarn and i've been graced with two crammed bags of yarn and more to come.  but it's knotted up but i've untangled it all and rolled it up.  thanks for the pattern in advance

javastain, did you use a pattern for that and if so might i be able to get a look at it.  I absolutely love that snood.

I love your hoodie.  What kind of paint did you use?
535  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Rasta Tam Dreaddie Hats w/bills attatched! on: January 06, 2006 12:58:57 PM
I have made several of these lately and do them mostly in *double crochet.  It works good.  In order to add some dimension I sometimes throw in a row of triple or single here and there, and maybe some clusters.  Keep experimenting, you will get something that works.  And if all else fails try steaming.

*Sorry modify that to be half double crochet.

half double crochet you say.

interesting. that is one of my fave stitches.  I'm loopy.  So did you do the bill in that too or did you do it in single.

i can't get it to lay flat.  it's waayy ripply.  I suck at single crochet.  All i ever make are beanies in double.  Can you do this in double, do you think?

i'm going to join.  I'm making two. one for me and one for my cuz.  He dosn't have dreads but he loves bob marley and dreads and the like.  Me also.  Plus i've lots of free time cause 2nd block i'm a library assistant and that consists of me stamping books and sitting around. and 4th block i get to go home early cause i have calculus ap 3rd so they just let us out for "college release" but most call it "nap time"
538  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: "Weasley" knit-a-long on: December 28, 2005 01:39:55 PM
Sounds like fun!  I'm going to be slow, though, because I have too many projects going on already.  But my husband just requested "a hat like Ron's in Prisoner of Azkaban."  So I'm trying to track down a pattern--evidently he first needs to decide whether it was the "animal cracker hat" or the "Hogsmeade hat" he liked.  I never realised what a knitting-intensive movie this was!

can someone please tell me what the "animal cracker hat" is. I love harry potter but i've only seen the movie once and don't recall that.
