11  i have finally made the hat i've been envisioning! in Crochet: Completed Projects by flyingmouse29 on: February 18, 2007 05:07:37 PM
so for the past year i've been on this quest to make this hat. its a hybrid of a hat my friend has and hat i made up in my mind (i think). I tried a bunch of times and finally gave up. Then, inspired by our faithful mod's post (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=147907.msg1460995#msg1460995) i realized what my hat was missing was the front and back post double crochet. so i used this pattern (http://www.hometown.aol.com/tepperleen/page4.html) to learn how to do that. However, that hat turned out HUGE! so i modified the pattern and turned it more into a beanie. that hat was still a little big, so i modified it even more and this is how it turned out. For the bill I used Tiegh's pattern (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=88721.0). the bill is still a little too small, so the next one is going to be a little bigger.

so after a year of attempts and more attempts (i have funny looking hats strewn throughout my house, and i keep unloading more on my friends) I have finally created that hat i've been waiting for.

oh, and i used jiffy yarn in caffe with a size J crochet hook, if anyone wants to know. Tongue

13  stars and skulls forever beanie in Knitting: Completed Projects by flyingmouse29 on: February 07, 2007 07:51:58 PM
i'm an anthropology major, and i love bones. especially skulls. so i decided i wanted to incorporate my two loves, death and knitting, into a super awesome hat. its dark blue, and the stars and skulls are purple and white (you can't really see it in the pictures).
I'm actually going to give it to my friend for her birthday (shes an anthro major too).

ignore my lame outfit, im in my pj's.  Smiley

14  stashbuster that didn't really bust my stash in Crochet: Completed Projects by flyingmouse29 on: January 23, 2007 01:54:12 PM
i have sooo many little half balls of yarn in a plethora of colors... so i decided to make a super awesome rainbow randomy scarf thing.
here it is, being modeled by my porch:

its all done in a shell stitch, and its really thick and warm.
i love it. my boyfriend thinks it looks like a clown exploded.
the only problem is now instead of little half balls i have little quarter balls.

(and i had to weave in A LOT of ends)

18  rainbow granny square blanket in Crochet: Completed Projects by flyingmouse29 on: December 24, 2006 10:26:30 AM
My grandmother died when I was 2, so i dont really remember her. but i know she was an avid crocheter, and she used to make beautiful afgans. I decided for christmas that I would make my mom one just like grandmas, only with softer yarn (all of my grandmas were acrylic itchy yarn). I'm a pretty bad crocheter because I'm a lefty and I learned from a book, so I do it retarded Tongue. This took me about a month on and off.... i hope you like it as much as i do! it's not very big... i made it a lap blanket cause my moms lap is always cold.

19  I made socks! OMG! in Knitting: Completed Projects by flyingmouse29 on: December 24, 2006 10:19:17 AM
im still afraid of the whole heel thing, so my first socks were tube socks. i used this pattern: http://www.frugalhaus.com/scripts/tubesks.asp

i used knitpicks simply stripes in snapdragon (i think...). it only took one ball for both socks Smiley

YAY! next step... conquer real socks. Tongue

20  Re: christmas projects..finished or not..share yours!! in Knitting: Completed Projects by flyingmouse29 on: December 24, 2006 10:11:37 AM
I decided to give everyone knitted/crocheted gifts alongside storebought gifts this year.. so I was a knitting fiend starting in early october. I made a lot of other gifts i forgot to photograph as well...  Roll Eyes oh well. Smiley

these are armwarmers i made my friend flannery, they are cabled, but you can't really tell. (you can also see my adorable/evil kitty!!)

This is a drop-stitch scarf I made for my friend courtney, its a mix of a thin fluffy yarn and this really expensive ribbon stuff my mom bought me for my birthday.

This is another drop-stitch scarf out of Patons Nuance. I really loved how the brown and pink blotched together... and the ribbon matches in real life Tongue

My little sister loves ugly hats... so i whipped this out on my knifty knitter.. its brown yarn with fun fur.

my best friend also loves ugly hats, so i made this acorn thingy for her out of some ugly stash yarn Tongue

and my favorite piece....a crocheted (i know... wrong forum... but im so proud i'm posting it in both Cheesy ) afgan for my momma!
