21  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: come one! come all! post pics of your tattoos! on: May 22, 2005 03:31:27 PM
i have tattoos on the inside up my arms (see page 25).  they didn't hurt nearly as bad as everyone said they would.  in fact, they weren't any more painful than any of my other tattoos (my wrist one hurt the most)

oh yeah, they were hosted on my old website, which i didn't renew this year so they're gone.  i'll dig through my computer, but the photos might be totally lost... that was over a year ago and i had a different computer then, too.  sorry!

glass thimble is amazing, but only if you're looking for calico cotton/quilting fabric.  they don't really have any "fashion" fabric.  my mom made me a quilt for my high school graduation and we spent HOURS going through all the rooms picking out the fabric.

hyper-cute.

the pattern link didn't work out for me, could you check it out?

yeah, that link is about a year old now so i guess i'm not surprised it's dead.  i checked the simplicity website and they don't have that pattern listed on their site anymore.  when i googled it all i found was someone else who had made that pattern, but she didn't have a picture of the pattern either, just a waist-up shot of the dress she made from it.  (if you're curious: http://homepage.mac.com/mlim/moxie/PhotoAlbum7.html, page down to simplicity 5092 view C picture)  i even checked ebay but i can't find this pattern, or a picture of it, anywhere anymore.  it's too bad!  that pattern was awesome (well, the dress is awesome, the pattern itself was kind of on crack...)

phew!  i'll keep it good and moisturized.  that's the problem with wrist tattoos... you stare at them so much you notice every tiny thing that you think might go wrong!

thanks for all your advice!

have you been keeping it moist enough?

yeah, i moisturized a few times a day with the same kind of moisturizer i've used for all my others.  i've been a little lazier about it since my last scab fell off a couple of days ago, though (just moisturizing one or twice a day).  i'll be sure to be more vigilant about it and hope that helps.

i added a fourth to my collection of children's book tattoos (see page 25 for the other 3).  this one is from "figgs and phantoms" by ellen raskin and is on my inner right wrist.

i have a question about it, though.  all of my other tattoos are exclusively line work (with the exception of the tiny ants on my "wrinkle in time" tattoos), but this one had some filling in.  i don't like the way it's healing.  it seems worse than my other 3.  i linked to a hi-resolution picture of it so you can see the shiny-ness and stiffness of the skin that's been tattooed.  is this normal for a 2.5-week-old tattoo?  if not, is there anything i can do to reduce the slight scarring?  mederma or something?

and also, i want to get it touched up a little soon because i can tell there are a couple of places the ink didn't take as well, so how long do you think i should wait, considering my skin isn't in the best condition right now and that i might realize there are a couple more palces that might need touchups in the near future?

oh, the picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/78048500@N00/13350581/

the pic makes it look a little worse than it does in real life in terms of the shinyness, but i wanted people to get the idea...

oo i love it! those characters on the fabric remind me of the drawings from the Mrs. Piggle Wiggle books.

(oh I really hope someone knows what I'm talking about Roll Eyes)

don't worry, you're talking to a girl with 4 tattoos of children's book illustrations.  of course i know what you're talking about!  and it had never occurred to me before, but you're totally right.

i'm so glad someone got some use out of the tutorial!  that looks adorable!  i'm happy that the weather is finally warming up so i can break mine out again.
