21  Re: Magic Yarn Ball Round 2 in The Swap Gallery by sharre on: December 05, 2006 11:13:59 PM
I am weak, weak I tell you...

actually I realised I do not have the circular needle sizes the pattern calls for so I wouldn't be able to start until I can get to the LYS again...

So we have:
1. group shot
2. is it a bracelet? is it stitch markers? It's BOTH
3. mobile phone charm, brooch, earrings
4. Kool-Aid *white cotton look out*
5. counted cross stitch kit and tootsie rolls (must eat before the boy finds them)
6. stitch markers on a cool clip chain
7. stitch markers on a key ring
8. funky nail polish and key ring/mini sharpies
9. the item every craftster needs: a key ring tape measure with cozy!
10. cute crocheted sewing kit/needle case
11. can you tell I love these colours.

I am simply in awe Miss_Vicki!

Feeling a smidge of swap anxiety now.

Ok so when I got home from work this afternoon I wasted no time on opening the box....and what did I find:

Two pairs of bamboo knitting needles with painted and beaded tops (that match the yarn), Glampyre's OSW, and a yarn ball in the most gorgeous colours!

Thank you Miss_Vicki!!!

I haven't decided if I am going to knit it out yet or reball it. For the moment I think I am just going to grin at it in glee.

I can't wait till you get your parcel partner, all I can say is great minds think alike. you will know why when you unpack it  Grin

23  Re: share your favorite skirt patterns, please!!!! in Sewing Pattern Reviews by sharre on: February 06, 2006 09:53:59 PM
New Look 6353 is a great skirt. A-line, side zip, sits about an inch below the waist and looks pretty cute on most people and in most fabrics.
Here's a pic of the one I made last night
It's linen and very, very comfortable and only took about an hour sewing time.

28  Simple Chiffon Ponchos w/ embroidered butterflies in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by sharre on: August 27, 2005 04:29:45 PM
Not sure whether it fits better here or in embroidery but since I mostly make clothes...

Cleaning up the image files on my computer I came across these. I made these for christmas presents and meant to post them in december last year. Well better late than never.

These were really simple to make basically consisting of straight machine sewing and basic embroidery but they were pretty time consuming thanks to all the embroidery.

I did learn a valuable lesson from these however, do not give non-crafty people handmade items that you took you forever. They have little appreciation of the time it takes to hand embroider metallic thread on chiffon.

Completed Pink Poncho excuse my horrid modelling and the SO's equally bad photography

I should mention that the butterflies I used were modified from patterns found at http://www.needlecrafter.com/ (love that site)

29  simple but Glam, Black and silver handbag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by sharre on: August 05, 2005 11:37:49 PM
inspired but this tute http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=24769.0 and in need of a quick but cute birthday present for one of my bud's I whipped this up in about an hour

[modelled so elegantly by my SO]

The hardest part involved tailors chalk and a ruler in order to get some lines on there to follow for the snazzy silver check. The other side of the bag I left plain black as is the lining. My satin stich around the cutout is a bit sloppy as my machine was playing up but overall I'm please with how it turned out.

The bag measures approx 15cm x 25sm and is perfect for my friend to put her wallet, water and notebook in for short trips for lunch and the library from our office.
