For the frame, how about getting a plain one and either painting it black and glueing coloured swirls on it - maybe use sequins for the coloured swirls, that way you can mix up the colours, or painting it with lots of different colours try one colour for each side, so it could be colourful, but tie in with her room ? I dunno, hope that helped some

For the brother, how about a soccer ball with spanish and american flags drawn / stenciled on, and then i dunno, leave some spaces blank and write special sayings or inside jokes on them when you're over there? Good quality permanent markers should last, and it will be something personal and unique.
If you end up taking a generic present over there, why not take some craft supplies as well (?)- just the basic stuff, then you can personalise something, or make something once you've got to know them?
Anyhoo, hope that helped some.   Smiley
415  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Re: How to stencil flawlessy. No pictures sorry. on: December 20, 2005 02:01:42 PM
happybeanz - if you're wanting to do heaps of copies of the one print, you might want to try screenprintng the stencil. That way you can just print, lift the screen up, put the screen on another tee, print and repeat! it'll save time coz you dont need to wait for it to dry. try using baking paper / cookie sheets (whatever you call em) and cut the stencil out of that. Ive found it works really well, and then you dont have to use glue.

Grin thanks for the book idea Tara1979,  i think i might do that, and stick in some cut pics of animals and some silhouettes of animals, etc. I'll also chuck in a couple of guitar picks, and stuff, but i dunno what....
Anyway, he's just going to be studying to be a vet for the next 4 years, so the scrubs might not be suitable for right now... but i'll keep the idea in mind. Thanks to both of you for replying - its helped heaps.

One thing that might help with your silk screening is using a silk screening block to push the paint through. If you dont have a proper block, just use a peice of fairly firm, thick plastic. The prints should be more even, and you won have to worry about saturation as much, coz the whole print will have the same amount of saturation & pain on it. To check saturation on my prints, i just go over them with the block a couple o' times and lift the screen away.
418  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Does anybody make ipod cozies for ipod shuffles? on: December 18, 2005 08:59:38 PM
Uh, I can probably make one. Depends on a couple of things -
where do you live? I am in Australia, so would you mind if you had to pay for postage?
What are the dimensions of a shuffle?
Does the cozie have to be knitted, or do you mind if its felt of other fabric?
What coulours etc? anyway, just email me to talk about it.

Hi! This is my first post, and would love it if anyone could help me out A.S.A.P.  Kiss

Christmas is approaching, and I'm almost totally broke. This wouldn't be a problem except that I can't think of anything to get for my brother. He is 19, nearly 20 years old, and has just got into a vet course at University. I want to give him something vet or animal related, but im stuck for ideas. . Huh
I can sew, (machine and hand) stencil/silkscreen, make clay models, and i can sort of paint and draw, but not very well. His other interests are music (violin and guitar), and playing on the computer ( if it's any help, he loves Kingdom of Loathing).

  Grin Thank You
