111  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: Knitting for a World of Warcraft Fanatic? on: January 05, 2006 09:55:13 AM
OK ... well I was thinking the WoW logo would be cool but it's too detailed to make a chart from so i generated one of the Blizzard logo...but I'd like to do something more than just a scarf with  it (though I have to admit DH would prolly like a scarf hmmm but that's boring!)...
112  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Knitting for a World of Warcraft Fanatic? on: January 05, 2006 08:08:21 AM
I'd REEEAAALLLY like to knit something for my DH ... something which would reach new heights of geekiness.  He loooooooooooooooooooves World of Warcraft, he has a lvl 60 hunter, he plays all the time, wants to marry the game, etc ... any ideas?  leroy jenkins tea cozy? (he makes use of our cearmic teapot whilst gaming a lot)  level 60 wristwarmers?  (i don't think he'd wear them)

i dunno...help me brainstorm.  Cheesy

So, I found the proper paint for painting on ceramic stuff ... it's Porcelaine 150.  I may buy some online or see if Michael's has it (the online site says they allegedly do).

Now I just need to figure out how to do 3-d embellishments.  Would polymer clay work?  I'm just concerned I couldn't get it to stick.  Hmm.   Huh

That is simply - BEAUTIFUL!  (Never thought I'd say that about a chicken coup!)  Your friend is obviously a very talented and caring individual to make something so lovely for her chickens.   Grin

there's instructions in Alterknits on how to make a rug using old t-shirts and size 19 knitting needles.

just thinking about cutting up DHs ugly tshirts makes me so happy  Cheesy.

I made window quilts a couple months back ... i used random fabric cut into 4-8" squares, quilted together with a 3.5 in. border.  I bought a blanket at the salvation army for a few bucks, cut it up and used it for batting (doesn't matter what the blanket is if your objective is to insulate).  Then I backed it with cute fabric and used velcro to mount it to my window.  It's warm as hell and the fit is very snug.  If you're not into the quilted look you could just pick out a fabric for the top and the bottom, sew em together with a salvo blanket batting and voila! Insulated windows.  Cheesy
119  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Embellishing Ceramic Teacups and Teapot? Heeeeeellllp on: January 02, 2006 09:14:17 PM
YAY!  I picked-up some cute teacups at salvo today for 20 cents ... I'm making my sis some teacup candles for our b-day (we're twins so yeah it's _our_ b-day  Grin).  They are simple and blue, and I'd like to embellish them and paint them to match her kitchen (she's very matchy like Martha and appreciates that sort of thing).  I also picked-up a ceramic teapot for my place, which we've been in dire need of.  The spout is chipped at the lip and I'd like to fix that as well as embellish the pot itself somehow.

Anyway ... I don't have a kiln or anything fancy, but I'd like to change these things to make 'em work.  Suggestions?  The teacups only need some painting ... the teapot I think needs to have some funky shapes added to it.  Somefin...
