Woo-Hoo!

They're presents for a friend of mine who loves pirates and was thinking about going to vegas to be a showgirl.  I thought they were funny...
12  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Smelly Playdoh on: October 27, 2008 04:06:57 PM
Okay... I'm putting this here because I'm assuming that Playdoh is a plaything but if the mods want to move it somewhere  better suited then please feel free!! Wink

My daughter is in preschool and her teacher gave us a receipe for scented playdoh.  Over the weekend we tried it out and it's one of the best playdoh recepies I've tried so I thought I would share it with my fellow crafters!

Materials needed:
2 Cups hot water
Small bag of flour
1 Cup salt
2 Packages Kool-Aid mix
1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
1 Teaspoon cream of tartar
2 Large mixing bowls
Zip lock bags or air tight containers

Procedure:
1.  Mix Kool-Aid in water until dissolved.
2.  Add vegetable oil to liquid mixture.  Set aside.
3.  In another bowl, combine 2 1/2 cups flour, salt, and cream of tartar.
4.  Add Kool-Aid water to dry ingredients and mix well.
5.  Add 2-3 additional cups of flour as needed to obtain the proper texture and consistency of regular
     Play-doh.
6.  When not being played with, store in a zip-lock bag or any air tight container.

We decided to make three different colors/scents and we only used a little over one container of salt and a little over one small bag of flour.   *Warning*  If you decide to make more than one color you will end up with a ton of playdoh!

The receipe didn't sound like it made too much so we thought "why not make some for each color?  You can't just play with one color of Play-doh, right?"  We ended up with about 24 "snack size" bags of playdoh... Cheesy
13  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Doki Doki Yummy Chums!! (Don't look Mcbenno!!) on: August 28, 2008 12:10:09 PM
I made these for the Kawaii Food Swap...I didn't realize that my partner is a vegetarian until after I had started them but I've decided that they are't really meat products... it's just a happy Boca burger and some yummy soy nuggets. Wink

Aren't they cute?  I think burger and fries have a crush on each other.

This picture's a little pink... not sure why.  I think these guys are adorable.  All except for the one with teeth.  A chicken nugget with teeth just kinda creeps me out.

And here they are all framed up... what'cha think?  If anyone wants to stitch these cute little meals up, the link is here:  http://www.geocities.com/sanrioxstitch/crafts/

15  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Horsey pillow on: July 22, 2008 01:34:38 PM
This took me forever because, well... okay *just tell them already* I'm scared of horses.  I made the mistake of stitching the eye first and it just kept staring at me so I never wanted to work on it.  However, I do like it and I'm hoping that my horse crazy cousin will too.  I finished it just in time for her birthday!

I found this great horse print fabric at Goodwill and I think I like it because the horses aren't too noticeable. Wink

I wanted to take a few more close up shots but my camera battery decided to go on strike.  What do you think?
16  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Tahitian Terrace Doorhanger on: June 02, 2008 11:37:34 AM
I'm doing a personal swap with Joolz and after searching through her wists I noticed that she had a few fun hula girl print fabrics that she's been wanting.  I wanted to embroider something like that for her and I just happened to find the perfect picture...

It's from the Tahitian Terrace dinner menu from Disneyland.   Cheesy
I decided to turn it into a doorhanger so she can announce to everyone that she's "on vacation".  Wink

I also found this awesome tiedye felt that worked perfectly for the backside...

What do you think?
17  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Kitschy Crafts beaded tie?? on: June 01, 2008 06:46:46 PM
I'm hoping that one of you crafty geniuses out there can help me out.  My aunt just gave me the book Kitschy Crafts, which we both love.  While we were flipping through it, we came across a picture of a beaded necktie.  My aunt went crazy over it (she has a thing for neckties...) and I want to make her one because her birthday just happens to be this month.  The bad part is that there's absolutely no pattern for it in the book which makes no sense to me.  There's a seven page spread about how to make resin grape lamps but nothing on how to make this tie.  I've searched the internet till I canst search no more and have come up with nutin'.  Does anyone have any idea how to make one of these?

I appreciate your help greatly!! Smiley

19  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Just Because... on: April 30, 2008 05:35:34 PM
C'mon.  If you find an embroidery pattern for a hand puppet, you have to make something with it, right?  Right?

I do however, find his stare a little disheartening.  It's kinda creepy.

20  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Sweet Tooth Cardigan on: March 13, 2008 02:50:00 PM
After weeks of stitching (alright, I stitched one word and forgot about it) I have finally finished my cardigan!

I like cupcakes.
