I did make it to sell for Valentine's Day, but my gypsy life prevented me from doing soon! Oh well, more clothes for me!

What's Up Craftsterholics?

I moved AGAIN.

I counted, it's the 18th time I've moved. And in a week and a half I'll be moving AGAIN ((We moved into my parent's house for the moment until the other house we are moving into is empty))

I've been like a gypsy. Oh and I shaved my head! So some of these pics are me with blue hair, then with a chelsea, and some with no hair at all!

Here's what I've been up to. I hope i'm not reposting anything!

I reconstructed this tee I bought my dear sweet husband who wore it like twice, then saw someone else wearing it and refused to wear it again, into a skirt!

It's so comfortable!



I had serious issues trying to figure out how to sew the diagonal lines together. I was serious kamikaze sewing, not really thinking things through, and just cutting bits out and hoping they'd turn out! I think it did!



This one was fun! I'd cut up a black doona cover one day when I was in desperate need of some plack fabric, and only had the ends left. I stitched elastic through the top of it, and left it a huge rectangle. I appliqued two zebra-print lovehearts onto the front ((or back, or side, wherever I want to wear it)) and then simply undid the snaps! YES! Those white dots are the snaps that keep your donna inside the cover!

I have an idea to make a bag similar to this, that can be worn as a skirt.

By the way, these are the leftovers of my 31 skirts project some of you might remember! I never did get around to finishing it, as I hopped between my parents and my in-laws and my home and hospital for a few weeks. Nowhere near my beloved but tempermental sewing machine!



I cut up an old sweater of my mum's that was SILVER and white. I loved the print on it though. I lined it with white jersey because it was a bit see-through. Unfortunately this is too tight on me. I made a little bow to go on the front too.



Poo what stinks? Nothing actually, I don't know why I was holding my nose.

This is just using up scraps in my scrap bin. Red + Purple jersey stitched together. It's the same on the back too.





Again I used a tee of Tim's. I did one half the tee, the other half just plain black stretch jersekyknit. The front I used a big metal zipper. I don't love this skirt.





I made the top from scratch when I was pregnant. I used striped stretchknit for the back, and white for the front and I painted a ribcage onto it. I didn't hem it or finish the armholes or neck either, so it has little ladders in it, which I love!

The skirt Is a big tutu skirt like what I've always made! This pic is from a photoshoot I did with my friend's dad. He took pics of Vinnie too wearing a bandanna the colour of my hair. Way too cute.



Probably SHOULDN'T have worn a black bra underneath this. Oh well! I cut up two shirts I had. One Barbie one, and one love-heart one, and made it into this cute skirt with suspenders! I added lots of lace + white ricrac



I've already sold this one! The top part is from a teal shirt, and the rest I reconstructed. It's got heart pockets similar to the heart in the skirt above! I really liked this one, but I am trying to sell as much stuff as I can ((not for money, just to get a good sturdy name for myself to start with))



Reconstructed from a black + purple striped tee that said Follow My Heart on it in Silver. I made loveheart pockets + a loveheart keyhole at the neck! I trimmed it all in black ruffled lace + black satin ribbon-bows!



Patrick the Starfish! I think some of you might remember my Spongebob Squarepants hoodie I made a few years ago? That got stolen remember? Well, here's another one! The sleeves are 3/4 and it has a big black hood and a full-black back.



I found this cute skirt at Lifeline. It was long and a weird shape, so I cut it short + made the scraps into a ruffle! Tank Girl FTW

I'm going to post the rest of the stuff I made on the Children's boards, because I've been super inspired by very own living-doll, my son!

I went in a Pinup competition on Friday night, and decided to make my little outfit!


Here's some photos I got my husband to take when we got home ((we left the show at 10.30pm, but had to drive to the otehr side of Brisbane to pick up our son from his Aunty + Uncle's - they were babysitting. It was 1.33am by the time I got to bed! HATE night roadworks))

It's a playsuit, with a halterneck a white contrast band and a white ribbon. On the butt is a loveheart trimmed in lots of lace!

It was supposed to be strapless, but when I was drafting the pattern, I completely forgot about taking out the 1.5cm gape dart, so when I put it all together the boobies were a tad too big and stuck out funny! So I had to quickly sew a ribbon to it to keep it on and in.

I made a matching hair bow and small bow ring ((which I gave to a gorgeous girl selling hair accessories when she gave me one of her wares because she thought I was cute!))



by the way, I didn't come anything! ahahhahaha.

I was supposed to be 4th, the 'judge's choice' but when the announced it they said "the girl in the shorts, Max California!" and looked at the girl in the denim shorts!

So she walked up and accepted the prize and I just laughed and mouthed to the audience, "I'm Max"

she stood beside me and was very embarassed and tried giving me the prize, but I knew she was embarassed. The prize wa pasties. I knew I could make my own if I wanted to, so I just said to her, "No hun, it's ok. I've got a husband and baby, I'm not going to be using them!"

poor girl, lol. Anyway, I got some pasties anyway when i got off the stage! Hurrah!

EDITING AGAIN:: I'm re-editing, because I just realised not all my skirts are reconstructions. The majority of them are. Is this abig no-no? Should I have a thread on the from scratch board with the from scratch skirts?


So I've set myself this crazy insane project. It's alot of fun and has really motivated me!

And ontop of that it's really cutting through my stash of old clothes + ugly fabrics I needed to use!

So the idea is, I am making 31 skirts. WHAT?! WHY? Well because for one, I don't wear alot of my incredibly tiny mini's anymore ((althought there will be mini's in this project)), and I need more skirts and more choice in my wardrobe. Since Vinnie was born my body shape has changed dramatically, and I'm still trying to get used to it!

Why 31 skirts? Well because then I have a new skirt to wear every day of December!
So far I've cranked out 11, so I'm slightly ahead, but I'd like to get most of them done within this week.

But you're not allowed to see them until each day I wear them!

AND, to add to excitement, lol, I'm planning on writing tutorials in January for the majority of the skirts. HOORAH!

ANYWAY. enough blabbering, here's the skirt for today!

Day 1

"EMILY"

I reconstructed this skirt from a kilt I bought for $2 from an opshop! I'd started unpicking the pleats and had removed the waistband, planning on using the not-too-woolly fabric for a pair of tartan skinnies.

Well I spied it in my stash as I was planning my 31 Skirts adventure and decided that because my lovely Mr. Husband has a thing for school uniforms ((he's not a pedaphile btw!)) I'd make it into something he'd love!

So I cut it short, hemmed it, added some ruffley lace ((Seriously, buying cards of lace of eBay is probably the greatest idea I've ever had)) and a waistband ((I have no clue where the original waistband went)). I also added two suspender straps, because I love them! It does up with press-studs and I decorated it with a kilt pin.



And because I had leftovers, and my personal motto is "from scraps" ((I'll write up the reason in my blog another day)), I made Vinnie a pair of pants that will prolly fit him until he's 15, aha.



And then i decided I needed a little tie of some sort, and made this cravat. I added 2 kinds of black lace to it and hotglued the base of a clip-on earring to the back. I did want to make Vinnie a matchign bowtie, but he started chucking a tanty ((he hasn't been sleeping well AT ALL)) and I decided to stop crafting and play photos instead. He loves playing photos. haha. I might make one for him later.



I need to pick up some giant black buttons, I think that's all this skirt needs.







Gotta keep powerpoints safe from exploring fingers! he can't crawl yet, but man he's close!

When I was pregnant, we moved into a tiny apartment with an amazing view of the city. Across the hall from us lived a young guy Keano and his girlfriend Roxy. Keano was so similar to Tim it wasn't funny. Except Tim wasn't as rough!

They both had cheeky blue eyes, they both had shaved heads, they both drove old cars, but both of their old cars were unreliable so they had both borrowed cars to drive instead. Both of these borrowed cars were white Toyota Camrys.

It gets better.

Just after Vince was born, we got the news that they were going to have a baby too!

We were moving out of the apartment into a house Tim's mother owns about 20 minutes away from where we currently lived. Keano and Roxy were also moving into a house Keano's mother owned one suburb over from our new place! Both Tim + Keano had to wait until their brother's moved out of the houses before they could move in. Both of the houses had bathroom issues, and both of them needed the ceilings sanded back and repainted.

LOL

And now they're going to have a little kid too! She's still cooking, and will be due in the beginning of January!

So, the point of all this? lol, I don't have a daughter, and they are going to have one, so I grabbed the opportunity to make some little dresses for their baby shower!





The little headband was made from the bottom part of the singlet I cut off. There is an R under the bow, the R stands for River

I made these dresses from store-bought singlets and attached a gathered skirt to the bottoms of them! So cute and a great way to use up my pretty girly scraps!

I had so much fun. Lace + ribbons + bows YEY!



I made a little applique, but didn't have any Vlisofix ((argh, what is it called? I havn't used it since I was 14)) So I stitched it on and it started to fray, so I got my PVA glue and just painted glue over it. It worked!!

[QUESTION::]

I messed up with the hood. I always make hoods oversized now, because when they are too small they are just crap. lol. At least with big hoods you can cut them down to size. Unless they're lined and you couldn't be bothered. Like me

I drafted the pattern from a hoodie Vince already had. He is quite young in these photos. I think he was like 2 months?



Yeh he wanted to be fed. Sorry Vinnie, you're a model now!



Giant Hood up



it doesn't look as bad when it is down. Look at his cute little blonde head. Ya know all his hair fell out pretty fast. he was born with so much. It's just growing back now and I'm really proud of it ((He's almost 6months))

Yeh I'm completely besotted about him and can't stop blabbing about him to everyone

QUESTION:: Can you get kid sized plastic seperating zippers? I can't find them in the fabric stores, mayeb I should google it.

So here's some things I made last month while I was feeling Halloweeny

I bought this fabric on eBay and I'm in love with it! It's got little haunted houses + trick or treaters on it. Halloween this year I was at the beach with my baby and my mother in law for a week. The rest of the family came up on Halloween, but I didn't do a single thing. I did wear this skirt though!

It's my favourite type of skirt, I've made one identical out of gumball machine fabric



This is my favourite, even though it's a bit short on me! It's a ghost dress!





oOoOOo spooky

this one didn't turn out as awesome as I'd hoped. I think i'll cut it up, and reuse the hood and make a prettier grim reaper dress with lace and bows and ruffles or something. T-shirts just don't sit well on me anymore, not with these breastfeeding boobies!

Anyway, I LOVE the hood





The last two are just basic t-shirt patterns. I stencilled on the happy ghostie face

Well. I Love him. So Much. He's hot, he's broody, he wears a cape and is pretty effing rich. I am so sweet on batman.

So I bought this giant tee-shirt off eBay, is it just me or now that you know you can cut up shirts to make cool stuff you purposely by giant oversized tees just so you have more fabric to work with?



I got the inspiration from a few dresses my favourite little frenchling Vivifromage had made, and I'd also seen the style in a shop once.

I did use some extra black stretchknit, so all the black isn't the entire shirt, and the grey is from another tee!

The front section is  a giant pocket. I cut the logo out of the original t-shirt, but kept a 1cm seam allowance around it. In hindsight, I would have made teh seam allowance bigger. Anyway, After I pieced the front together, I carefully pinned the logo on and stitched it! That is rare for me to use pins!

And yeh, I even have batman tattoos My pink hair HAS faded dramtically, but I've also bleached it to make it lighter. Wait til you see what colour I'll be going next

Well I think they look like dickies shorts anyway. I drafted a pattern from a pair of denim shorts that fit him well and then made him a new pair from black cotton Drill.

I stitched on a Ramones patch I took off my jeans too.



I made a pair out of camoflague leftovers too. I'll get a pic when I can find them

I used a soaker pattern I found online ((probably through here)) and because Vinnie wears disposables ((I DID TRY with cloth, he just saturated 5 in 2 hours and I gave up!)) I use these as little shorts instead.

I call them Butts.
