961  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / Re: Recycled fabric options on: January 29, 2006 06:08:58 AM
When I lived in toowoomba ((near brissy)) i found just about everything I needed in Lifelines. I even found the reders Digest Guide to sewing ((which has been a life saver in teaching me how to do peter pan collars, and set-in sleeves)) but now that i've moved to brissy, i'm not sure where all the good op-shops are. i went to one and i found a beautiful vintage frame but nothign crafty and nothign i'd want to re-consruct either. i was very sad.
962  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / Re: Are you doing an arty/creative Uni or TAFE course? on: January 29, 2006 06:06:23 AM
I'm starting cert iv in clothing production on.. um, next monday? the 6th anyway. I have orientation on wednesday and i'm VERY excited! Its full time so i get a student card ((which means cheap bus fares and movie tickets))((WOOO)) and my fella is doing a photography course soon also ((we're going in cahoots together in startign our own label))((he can sew also -makes me VERY proud-))
I don't know whether it will be a whole heap of wannabe fashion desgners, or old ladies or what, but i do know that there is the chance to get a 6month scholarship to Italy ((which would be awesome, except I am totally not good enough!)). I was going to go and do the course at the Whitehouse school of design ((in Sydney? i think)) but i think that after i finish this certificate I'll do the rest of the Advanced Diploma there, or something.

Anyway, its all so very exciting, and i'm becoming very inspired by all the scary movies i've been watching ((they've been havin a strange running theme on scary psycho 1900s doctors and medical centres))

you could also use that white ((or black i guess))  hat-elastic instead of thread and that way it would be stretchy! you'd have to use a fair amount of beads tho, otherwise there'd be big gaps in between them. I think I know what i will be attmepting to make on my long car trip to my sisters!

hehhhe, i have the same material but i made a  pair of shorts with it... they turned out ugly so i made them into an over-the-shuolder bag which people LOVE but i don't think is that great... anyway, i love the fabric tooo, even thought my prjects with it didn't bring me as much joy as the material did..

967  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Completed Projects / Re: making envelopes from recycled paper on: January 17, 2006 09:18:31 PM
I made a TON of envelopes out of an old road atlas that was out-of date. Here's what I did: I took a regular envelope and held it over teapot steam to loosen the glue that held it together. Now I have a template for free!

hahahah, i did the exact same thing when i was in year 7 to put the letters i wrote my friendsd in, they thought i was so rad... *sigh*
