1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Tips for knitting a knockoff of this cardigan from Urban Outfitters on: January 12, 2015 04:12:45 PM
This cardigan from Urban Outfitters looks very knitter friendly. Does anyone have a pattern, or could anyone suggest a similar pattern which I could find online somewhere like Ravelry maybe?

Thanks!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Looking For Pattern? Ask here! - knit blanket on: February 20, 2013 01:40:07 PM
Does anyone know of a pattern similar to the knitted blanket shown on the cover of "Country Living" magazine, the February 2013 issue?

It is shown draped over a bench in this photo from their website.

Thank you!

3  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / re-intro on: June 12, 2010 03:30:19 PM
Hello Crafsterers!  Cheesy

I've been a member for a while but I don't post very often, so I thought I would re-introduce myself, since I'm back now, and looking for crochet tips.  Wink

In my spare time I enjoy knitting, wreath-making, bellydancing, collage/making vision boards, and I'm trying to teach myself to crochet.

I also love reading, and audio books (especially while crafting), and I am trying to learn a little web design, and pick up some blogging skills.

I'm on a self-help kick and I also started my own self help classic ebooks web page. I'm currently discovering the works of Florence Scovel Shinn and am blown away by her writings. I am also participating in the Self Help Gifts Giveaway as a contributor, with a brand new web page. I'm trying to improve my web page design skills -- so far not so good, lol, but I guess imperfect is better than nothing.

Vicki

Hi Lavinia!

Ditto on de-lurking. I've been a member for a while but I don't post very often.

I love collage too!

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / UGG "Classic Cardy Boots" on: November 27, 2009 09:35:32 AM
Does anyone know where I could find a knitting pattern to make these? Dillards featured them on the front page of their Thanksgiving ad insert in my local newspaper. In the flyer photo they are taller, almost knee length, on the model. They look kind of slouchy in this photo ontheir web site:

http://www.dillards.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=301&langId=-1&storeId=301&productId=501632902&Ntk=all&Nty=1&N=1000301&Ntt=ugg+australia&searchUrl=%2Fendeca%2FEndecaStartServlet%3FNtk%3Dall%26Nty%3D1%26N%3D1000301%26Ntt%3Dugg%2Baustralia&R=02892317&IN_MERCH=true

Also are there any shoemaker suppliers on the internet that sell the Ugg style soles like these?

thanks.
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / how to sew this wrap? on: October 28, 2009 10:47:53 AM
Does anyone know where I could find a sewing pattern for a wrap front cardigan similar to this one shown on Victoria's Secret:

http://www2.victoriassecret.com/commerce/onlineProductDisplay.vs?namespace=productDisplay&origin=onlineProductDisplay.jsp&event=display&prnbr=EF-250823&cgname=OSKEYCLOZZZ&rfnbr=6542

thank you!
7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Kentucky Derby projects anyone?? on: April 30, 2009 07:12:36 AM
I was wondering how to make a hat like the one on the official Kentucky Derby Barbie:

http://www.barbiecollector.com/news/news.aspx?news_id=173

Also, if anyone can suggest an easy to sew dress pattern to make a similar styled dress, that would be great (preferably a pattern that is already sized for petites - I have zilch drafting skills and learned the hard way I can't wear anything made from a regular misses' size pattern!)

For your Derby enjoyment this coming Saturday:

1. Become a fan of the Kentucky Derby on Facebook and I *hear* (via their twitter site derbyoaks) that they will give you a free $10 wager on the derby

2. Search "Party Up at the Downs" on iTunes and there are 16 official Derby mp3s available

3. The Kentucky Derby channel on Youtube has an instructional video for how to make a mint julep

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Request: tutorial for re-collaring and re-cuffing men's shirts on: January 07, 2009 06:34:22 AM
Does anyone know where I might find instructions for how to re-collar and re-cuff a man's shirt?

thank you!
9  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Have you found these free workshops yet? on: May 23, 2008 12:54:21 PM
If you go to:

http://www.gerlofsmit.com

Click on English or Dutch, and then click on the link to the Workshops to sign up and download the free booklets.

You will find videos (in Dutch) and PDF downloadable workshops that teach papercutting techniques, easy enough for beginners, and then progresses to more difficult projects.

Although the videos were in Dutch (without subtitles) I didn't have any trouble following them.

The printable workshops are gorgeous! And the even the really easy beginner projects look really cool...

Includes paper flowers, paper necklaces, silhouette landscapes and more...

Oh, and it's all free!

Enjoy...

10  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: I want to kick my sewing machine out of the window!!! on: May 20, 2008 08:11:24 AM
<<<< are you absolutely sure you threaded it right?>>>

I am pretty sure I threaded it right, I followed the manual anyway, although it's not much of a manual. What's really funny is the video that came with the machine, it's just a long advertisement for Husqvarna, and has no helpful information whatsoever! LOL

Since the top seam (?) is fine, just the bottom is messy, I think it is an issue with the bobbin, either the way it's being wound, or some issue with the thingy you put it in (below the presser foot, I don't remember what it's called).

I will go through the Penlowe tutorial, and look up my machine's model number and see if there is more information or a better & downloadable manual somewhere...
