1  what to make with........ in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by MisFit on: November 01, 2006 11:47:47 PM
Hoping someone can help me out:

I bought a TON of cute, cheap fabric from Fabricland when one of their locations was closing. The problem is, I'm a novice sewer and I'm not sure what to make with the kinds of fabric that I bought  Undecided

I have a bunch of different prints in this fabric...semi-sheer, thin...stuff? hahaha.

And also this houndstooth:

So, any suggestions/links for simple projects? I'm thinking skirts and dresses <3
Thanks guys!!!!!!!!!!!

2  Mother Nature costume! (pic heavyyy) in Halloween Costumes by MisFit on: October 25, 2006 07:32:51 PM
Wow, it's been a while since I've done any crafting! So I thouroughly enjoyed working on my Halloween costume.

Here I am, modelling my Mother Nature ensemble...I made the whole thing today, so there was definitely no time to sew. Instead, I borrowed my sister's nightgown  Grin

The accesories I made to go with:

Close-up of wand, and a segment of belt:

Me, wearing my crown and very satisfied with the days work!:

I'm still working on a few things...Going to get some "viney stuff" and make wrist cuffs instead of bracelets. Should I do some kind of painting/drawing on my arms, or is that too much?? What about footwear? And I'm also looking for a clever way to attach some kind of "pet", preferably a squirrel.

Any advice or comments appreciated!!!

3  Kitty sweaters in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by MisFit on: December 11, 2005 11:05:47 PM
Thought I'd post a hint for all of the other lazy catowners out there...You know those silly teddybear dress-up clothes that they sell at Michaels and the like? Instant kitty (or small doggie, i guess) Halloween costume!

Here is my lovely Milo modelling his fishermans cableknit sweater (lol), and an equally stunning jack-o-lantern costume! Awww! So he doesn't exactly love them  Undecided he does love to play with the fur trim on the pumkin one though. And he walks like a bulldog with them on. hehe.

4  2 bags + AMAZING bonus...heheh. in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by MisFit on: December 11, 2005 05:09:14 PM
Hey Guys...

After stumbling upon the site a couple of weeks ago, I have found myself very inspired! Stencilling and recon just wasn't enough, so I've voyaged into the crazy world of sewing. Here are a couple of bags I made:

This was my 'demo bag'. My mom was helping me, and we made it pretty quickly as it didn't have a lining or anything. It turned out pretty nicely, so I'll probably use it.

Here is a closeup of the fabric I used - so cute! My mom bought it when my sister and I were little but never used it.

Here is my second bag, a present for my friend Erin. We couldn't quite figure out the whole lining thing (well I could, but my mom insisted I was wrong  Tongue). It took a lot longer than the demo, but it turned out pretty nicely. The fabric was only $3/metre at Fabricland!!

Closeup of the pretty pattern. A word of advice - although beautiful, this silky polyester blend stuff is a nightmare to sew!!

And finally, the amazing bonus I promised...this may require some explanation first. My boyfriend got pretty bored as my mom and I were sewing away, and so he decided to 'create' a lovely outfit. Dont ask me what the thing on his head is... Huh

Thought you would all get a kick out of my 'crafty' boyfriend! Any comments / questions appreciated. Thanks for looking!  Grin
