I'm trying to come up with some ideas for a birthday gift for my mom (end of January). Mom's recently become a semi-invalid with the prospect of that progressing to full time invalid in the next few months, and she asked for some crafty things to keep her entertained while she's on "bed rest". She already does scrapbooking and has lots of supplies for that. She also sews and quilts, but with the bedrest she can't really spend much time at the machine. She crochets, doesn't like to knit, very much enjoys being active and spending time with others...
I gave her a soap-making kit I picked up at JoAnn's, for Christmas, and she seemed to like that. But goodness... what to give! I'm kinda stumped. It's kind of surprising how many crafts require sitting for long periods of time, or standing in the kitchen, or bending over frequently. I think she'd love just about anything - although she's probably tried all the "classic" crafts (macrame, painting, knitting / crocheting, quilting, embroidery, scrapbooking, furniture refinishing, ceramics, etc), what's new and innovative that maybe we haven't considered?
My original idea was to fill a box with "sick day" stuff, and I think that might still work to an extent - small projects quickly finished, etc. I did do a search on "handicapped" and "invalid" and "sick", but didn't come up with much. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
