1  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: A Vegetarian who doesn't eat vegetables - help! I need recipes! on: December 14, 2007 09:40:06 PM
I made a really easy hommus the other day. You just blend a can of rinsed chickpeas, with olive oil till it's smooth, keep adding olive oil till you get the texture you like, I found that if i used a really light tasting one for the blending it's not as overpowering, then if u want add some tahini (which is a sesame paste) then on top pour some stronger tasting olive oil and your done, I found most can beans blend up really well if u like a tangy taste u can mix in some lemon juice too, or if it's too bland for u add some crumbed feta if u can eat cheese. good luck!

I love waiting for spotlight to have the 5 dollars vogue sales, I got nuts buying when it's that!

eep! it sounds like heaven. how often do they have the $5 vogue sales?

They don't have it often, but I try and keep my eye out for it... bearing in mind that most of the time they dont' have the new stuff that's on the vogue website!

I agree, this is a great idea, I always try to prolong making something till it's cheap now too! That and the fact I'm too lazy and broke (busy with work... is my excuse and lazyness) to make stuff for full price

I think my brother said that it was from when they had the knitting marathon to make blankets for the homeless or something along the lines of that.

My brother works at ABC and he goes there's a whole room dedicated to the knitting thing, also when I went to pick him up there's HUGE stuffed dolls of the characters from Play School, I haven't had a chance to go in and look properly yet but from the entrance they are big... it feels like when ur little and u run up to the easter bunny to give it a hug and it towers over you. That's what it looks like to me.

THere's a patons knitting pattern exactly like that only it's shorter. It's in book 1230 (resort knits in zest, zhivago and feathers) It's on the patons website in publications www.patons.biz It's style 3. I was thinking of making it only I'm in like 5 other unfinished projects!

Thanks guys! It's so nice when people notice that you've tried! It took me a few goes and I've still got heaps wrong! kinda winged it a bit. The book has been around for a while, first came out in 1983. I managed to find a few copies on ebay. They did a reprint a few times, the lastest one is 1990 I think.
