1  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Re: Fat Bottom Problem- Please help... on: April 22, 2006 11:32:05 AM
Did you add your turning chains?

I *think* I did- I stitched in the top loop, but am I supposed to stitch in more than that? I seriously feel so moronic.
2  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Fat Bottom Problem- Please help... on: April 21, 2006 11:26:32 PM
Soooo I'm working on the FBB and I've already frogged twice because I think I'm doing it right until I get to the 14th row...

There are nowhere NEAR 45 sts; I thought I was doing my increases right... I hhdc to a marker, and then I 2hhdc in that st, put the marker in the "inside" stitch, hhdc 5, 2 hhdc in the marker stitch and move the marker to the "inside" stitch, and hhdc to the end. Soooo this means each row should be gaining two sts, right? I just finished row 16 and I only have 35 sts.

Please, please, please help me if you think you know what's up. I feel like I'm going crazy. Am I missing something really obvoius that no one else did? This is definitely not related to the errata, and I did do a search already. Dear God HELP!

Thank you, thank you.

not to be a nit-picker, but it's the pdQ. the font on the pattern page is certainly confusing but alas- it stands for pretty darn quick. perhaps yours could be the pretty darn adorable =)

i just finished looking at every year of your life (weird!) and i have to say that this project is absolutely breathtaking. the creativity, artistry and care come together in such a unique, fun and interesting way. this is more art than craft, i would have to say. my favorite part is the use of text in the background in such a way that it could only really be read/understood by you and not by anyone else. a wonderful reminder of events and emotions in your life for years down the road when all of the little things can be forgotten. you've completely inspired me to take up a project like this of my own. definitely not in the same style- i am nowhere near your skill in stylized drawing and illustration- but in the same idea. a panel for each year of my life documenting my outsides and my insides. bravo.
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: When Does the Crochet S&B Book... on: January 25, 2006 08:51:28 PM
Yeah, mine says Feb., too.  My ma preordered it for me for the holidays.  Ugh, I hate waiting.

ditto to all of that! how cute our mommies are <3

it hit me today that i hadn't received it yet and was bummed to see the date change. let's hope the february date is correct and not the april one posted earlier!
6  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Re: Violent Purse on: January 24, 2006 11:12:43 PM
i think your idea for the bag is really intriguing and your message is wonderful and effective.

however, i can totally identify with why you would NOT want to use it. from a big town or small, an event like that lives in the minds of all residents for a loooong time and i would be way too uncomfortable to carry it around in public. even though i don't live where you do, i think it's really beautiful that you would have such a strong social conscience and as a fellow human i appreciate your sensitivity an awful lot.

well done in a multitude of ways <3
7  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Re: Angela Davis (and we roll like Avis.. :) ) on Canvas on: January 24, 2006 11:03:48 PM
that is so, so, sooooo bitchin. i bet she would LOVE it. she's a professor at my school- uc santa cruz. you should def. email her a copy of that and your idea. she might even be able to help you get that displayed here somewhere. santa cruz really likes feminism =) her email can be looked up at www.ucsc.edu through "people find"
8  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: graphite sketch on: January 24, 2006 10:52:56 PM
the expression you were able to capture in the face is so beautiful and well done that i can't even look away to the rest of the drawing. i try but my eyes are drawn back to the eyes and mouth of your portrait. the lips are especially well done. *high five*
9  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: portrait on cardboard (mixed media) on: January 24, 2006 10:29:05 PM
i really like works on cardboard so kudos for that =) the texture works really nicely with this piece. i am curious about what will be embroidered/how you will use embroidery, but i look forward to seeing the completed piece.
10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Re: best cheesy love songs EVER?! on: January 23, 2006 09:57:59 PM
wow...no songs to add, just yet, but I just had to say....
thirteen- big star or elliott smith cover
Isn't that song amazing? and when I found the elliott version, I almost died. Okay, that's it! Wink

it's seriously the cutest love song. it so captures love at any age and all of the awkward beginning of dating stages. there's something about being put back to age thirteen when we listen to that song that makes my fiancee and i sing along to each other holding hands all mushy like. i need to listen to it now <3
