1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Acrylic madness! 5 paintings. on: February 01, 2008 04:12:36 AM
I've been taking a break from life for the past 6 months or so, hiding at my parents house in the south of France. Managed to do 9 or 10 paintings in all that time, here's a few of them.
Hope you like.

Scots Monument in Edinburgh (already posted this but since deleted link)

French Pyrenees (this was just a ten minute thing)

A leaf (I went mental with the paint on this one)

This is of my Dad and I. I'm not really happy with it as I just cannot paint people (I now know) but he seemed to like it which is what's important.

Garden sunset - from a photo (for my sister, it's her bday today)
2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Another Acrylic Scotland stylee! on: October 09, 2007 08:18:52 AM
While I'm in the posting things mood I thought I'd share this painting with you lot.
I actually did it as a present for somebody last Christmas and since I'm now starting this years presents, I thought I'd get round to putting this up here!

For those of you who haven't ventured to Scotland before, this is my artist's impression of the Scott Monument on Princes Street in Edinburgh.

Not one of my best works, but I like the colours.
Apologises about the poor photo taking, it was the best I could manage  Angry
3  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Birthday Acrylics! on: October 09, 2007 08:11:47 AM
I haven't posted in ages, must be months - eek.
EDIT: Almost two years infact! How the hell did that happen?

SO...
It was my mum's birthday about a week ago and she also happens to share her special day with a family friend/neighbour so I thought I'd go a bit crazy with the old paint brushes.
Here's what a frantic morning's work produced! They're both beach-scapes very roughly copied from postcards. I basically followed the composition of the sand, sea and horizon and changed everything else - colour, texture etc.

Numero uno for my Mum:

And the second one, for the friend:

I much prefer the second one  Undecided
Hope you lot enjoy  Smiley

5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Greenday record bowl on: December 22, 2005 11:00:18 AM
So I made some record bowls from one of the many tutorials on this site and this is how they turned out:
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c324/niggle24/pic068.jpg

I decided to keep one for myself, give one as a gift on its own, but this is what I did with the third one (the one with DEAD DEAD GOOD on it)...

First I glued a pic of the Greenday - American Idiot album cover to the botttom:

Then I glued a pic of Greenday themselves onto the inside of the bowl:

And lastly, I filled it with lots of goodies to munch over the festive period  Smiley

I'm giving this to a friend for Christmas. The friend happens to be a very very big Greenday fan so I hope he likes it  Cool
6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / my spinning record box! on: December 22, 2005 10:34:29 AM
I wasn't really 100% sure where to put this but here we are anyway -  my twirly record box thing!

It was pretty straight forward:
- First I drilled a hole in the bottom of a little box I had sitting around.
- Then spent ages searching for a screw the right lenght, a bolt the right width, and two washers the right size.
- Once that was done, I just whipped it all together in this order: screw - record - two washers (so that the box can be twirled) - box - bolt.

My mum later pointed out that the screw head on the bottom of the box would scratch any table top it was put on... Then she handed me some little rubber feet to glue on the bottom, so...

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out  Smiley and I hope you understood ^ all that up there lol
7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / IKEA mirror on: December 22, 2005 09:49:30 AM
So I found one of those IKEA mirror's just lying around my house and though WHAT THE HEY, LET'S CRAFT!
Since it was like mid-november when I did it, I figured that I might as well make it an xmas pressie for somebody. So what I did was cut out a friend's nickname from a sheet of foam that I had and painted the letters purple with glass paint so it was all shiny. After that I glued on some foam flowers that I had in my room, then painted over the whole frame with a lighter purple paint. Once that was dry I glued on the letters and voila!

9  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / self made calendar for a friend (lots of pics) on: December 11, 2005 01:11:49 AM
My first post!

This is a calendar that I made last weekend, as an xmas pressie for a friend. On every page are photos of my friend and I... sorta like fun times we've shared together... except December, thats a winnie the pooh collage.
Although I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out, I'm not in a hurry to make another one any time soon as it took a lot of planning and was quite hard work really... but that's just what I think, I'm lazy  Roll Eyes
