5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / redistributing stiches on dpns on: February 15, 2006 06:39:29 PM
im knitting the very tall socks from knitty http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter04/PATTverytallsocks.html  i started with 90 stiches distributed on all 4 dpns and have decreased down to.. 54? however, almost all of these are one only two needles, with only 4 or so stiches on each of the other two... can i move these stiches onto a differant needle, say work with three now, or even just two?  it seems logical that i could, but this is my first project on dpns and its for a swap partner, so i dont want to dork it up. Tongue i know that after i work 60 some rounds even i will be turning the heel and have to switch up the stiches then, but will it mess up the sock if i do some switching now?
thanks Cheesy
6  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Discussion and Questions / any potters out there!? on: February 15, 2006 01:58:34 PM

sigh, pottery is my newfound love Cheesy
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / dropped END stiches? on: January 19, 2006 04:13:40 PM
hey all Tongue ive got a question maybe someone here can help me with.  im doing a shirt (tank girl, SnB) and its a purl 2 knit 1 rib.  im pretty wicked clumsy and the last stich is forever falling off of my needle.  this one fell off while i was back knitting (or unknitting? cant remember) to fix a screw up and now its a bit of a messy knot.  i was having a moment trying to remember where the needle went to undo the stich and then it fell right off and as i was trying to put it back on i couldnt find the correct loop to put on.  im wondering if someone has a picture of how the end is supposed to look? with maybe the stich stretched out, or if someone could take one really quickly? im pretty sure i could figure out how to get it back there if i could see what it was supposed to look like, but i still cant get that figured out.  or maybe someone has a link that might show me? any help would be wonderful, because until them im left to my own devices, or just not knitting, which has become not an option at this point Tongue
8  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Tank girl from Stitch 'n Bitch on: January 11, 2006 08:57:24 AM
hey everyone! so im deffinently a beginner knitter, ive been learning for about a month, but ive had ALOT of time in that month, so i think i wont be too ambitious in taking on the tank girl tank top in Stich n bitch handbook Tongue i will be learning the decreasing as i go... i have practice yarn and more than plenty of time before i will be able to wear this without extra layers (i live in maine Tongue)  anyone was to do this with me!? i started last night, doing the gauge swatch and i cast on and did maybe 4 or 5 rows before it was bedtime for me Tongue

im useing Debbie bliss alpaca silk in a purply color.  it was kind of expensive for 8 skeins of it :S but i figured since im learning (and the best way for me to keep my interest is if im really excited about wearing it) and the lys didnt have any cotton in the right weight that i would just suck it up for now and find out about...less expensive yarns Tongue later on in the year.

anyone interested!? it seems like it will be fairly simple Smiley
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / my second scarf! on: January 08, 2006 02:57:53 PM
well, after my first scarf my sister wanted one, so i knit her one too! only this one is funky green and in the moss stich and has fringe Cheesy shes really happy with it and is taking it with her to new york city!
10  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / stripping painted over wallpaper trim? on: January 04, 2006 05:06:32 PM
soooo, my sister and i took on this big project of making our house look not crappy! the kitchen is first to change, because it is heinous (white with off-blue sponginess and a spongy heart border :s).  whoever it was that painted the hearts decided they would just paint over a wallpaper trim! not only that, but they used tape as a patch job over a quarter of the trim and as a patch job over some lighting fixture holes :s

i asked the people at the paint store how to get that off, they said to use one of those puncture tools and the gel junk, but that doesnt work.  in fact, that stuff didnt even work on REGULAR wallpaper, so my personal advice to anyone stripping wallpaper, just use vinegar!!!  it absorbs much quicker and you get more for your money!! and it airs out quickly, so dont worry too much about the vinegar scent lingering.

anyhow, we are trying to scrape it off but that isnt going to work for the whole thing :s the places where the adhesive didnt work, those are the places we can get off, otherwise, its stuck as cement :s

the whole area looks rediculous now... we can barely make a dent in it :s

im wondering if anyone has done this before? or if you can think of something that might work?

for now, back to scraping Tongue
Thanks
