1  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Joker T-shirt on: July 21, 2008 11:38:38 AM

My boyfriend and I made matching joker shirts last night after seeing The Dark Knight.  I only got a picture of mine, but I'm wicked proud of it so I just HAD to post.  The glossy-finish paint doesn't really show it's true colors in the picture, the hair and eyes are nice and vibrant in person.  I think I've finally figured out how to get stencils to show up on black t-shirts...hurray!!!

Thanks for Looking!!!  Grin
2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Life-Sized Weighted Companion Cube Plushie! on: January 12, 2008 03:58:48 AM

It's been ages since my last post, but I'm really proud of this one.  It's a late Christmas present for my boyfriend.  I actually started it in the middle of December but just finished it this morning .  I'll try to get some better pics with his camera after he unwraps it:P.

Thanks so much for looking, It's good to be back. Grin

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Measuring Tape Slap Bracelets! on: May 05, 2007 07:23:52 PM

I made these for my sister's 14th b-day.  I looked for a tutorial, but I couldn't find anything other than directions for covering an existing slappy bracelet.  And then I had the bright idea to destroy my dad's tape measure and these suckers were born! Grin

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / ♪My Hat Plays Music!♪ [img heavy] on: March 25, 2007 07:36:35 PM
This could easily be classified as the craziest idea I've ever had.  But I got an mp3 player for my birthday (6 months ago), and I've hardly every used it because I hate hate hate cords hanging around my neck. (not to mention those earbud things don't fit at all...)

Thus...the 'Hat-phones' were born.

You can kinda see the mp3 player poking out of the hidden pocket in the lining...

A better picture of the attached headphones cord and the secret pocket.

The top of the hat, the color's a little wonky...it's hard to take pictures of the top of your head! Tongue ...plus a close-up of the coolest button ever (25 cents for a pack of 5 of these at the thrift store)

(I think this could be rather useful for those long lecture-type classes...as long as I keep it soft enough so I can still hear the teacher.)

I should probably clarify that the headphones were stitched onto a piece of fleece, and stitched to the inside of the band so they sit right over my ears...I noticed no decrease in sound quality, and when I wore it to town, nobody around seemed to hear anything...so it's all good.

I wish I had some pictures of the inside wiring and such...but I was so caught up in my inspired streak that I totally forgot...sorry guys Undecided...if perchance one of my friends wants one, I'll take some process pictures...

Thanks for looking anyway! Grin

Close-up of the Pickles shirt...I thought about adding more stuff...but it looks pretty cool plain

Dr. Jonathan Twink-let-its and a banana sticker.  My 11 year old sister did this one...her first stencil ever...she deserves a cookie...and even better, she's agreed to let me borrow it!

Toki...the paint was wet when I took this picture so the color's a little wonky...I stenciled the outline and words then painted in the colors...pretty cool...

Thanks for looking!

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Guitar-Shaped Backpack (with TUTORIAL LINK!) on: December 28, 2006 08:26:05 PM
I've never made a purse or bag before...much less one with no pattern.  But when my backpack decided to split and spill all my books on the floor one day, I decided to give it a shot.  I stole the straps from my broken backpack, but the rest is all my work (the little decorations are just pins and patches I found in my junk)...I think it'll do nicely for a semester of college...

I reinforced the front panel with some thin poster board stuff I found in the garage, so it holds its shape while I wear it.  (I sprayed it with laquer to waterproof it somewhat, but I don't expect it'd survive on a hike through the icy slopes of mount everest)  I decided on a side zippy because I didn't want to mess with the zipper and curves at the same time...turns out I had to go around the curve anyway...oh well I still love it...

Comments are always appreciated, and even though I didn't get any in progress pics, I remember how to do it well enough to make a tute if anybody wants one...

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Sheet to Hoodie!!! on: December 20, 2006 05:20:37 PM
I wanted to make hoodies and I decided I wanted to try making them out of bedsheets.  I've been collecting random sheets for the last six months, but I wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing before I went ruining them.  Today when I found this old transformers sheet, I knew it was the one I wanted to experiment on.  I'm pleasantly surprised with my result, and although the pattern's a little too cluttered and maybe a bit too psycho to wear outside, I'll definitely romp around the house and sleep in it.  It's thin, but it's baggy enough for me to slap a long sleeved shirt underneath it and still be warm.

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Flowery Green Halter Dress on: December 16, 2006 03:35:01 PM
I got this odd fabric from the thriftstore for a dollar...and decided to try making a dress out of it.  I still have 5+ yards of the stuff...and a charming new dress...

The pics are kinda crap because I couldn't find anybody to take pictures of me wearing it...BOO!

http://imageigloo.com/images/60781front.JPG
I was making a stupid face so I cut it out...
http://imageigloo.com/images/7511001back.JPG
The back isn't crooked like that, I'm just standing kinda funky...
http://imageigloo.com/images/4387PREVIEW.JPG
and there's my final attempt to get my face and the dress to cooperate in the same picture

It doesn't have a zipper...the material doesn't stretch...so it's pretty much MAGIC that I manage to get it off and on...  I have some old ninja turtle and batman sheets that might look cool in this style, and when I try that I'll add some elastic in the back to give it a little stretch...I'm still proud of myself for dreaming up my own design...so it's all good...

Thanks for looking!!!
9  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / We're ALL Lorraine...and You Will Be Todd...(Bubble Boy Shirt!) on: November 03, 2006 01:17:57 PM

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e30/HawksDesigns/TheBASProject/Part%20II/DSC02427.jpg
Here's a pre-glitter pic...it's a bit easier to see...(there's yellow construction paper under it in this pic...so it looks a lil wonky)
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e30/HawksDesigns/TheBASProject/Part%20II/DSC02426.jpg
I dyed the collar of the shirt...but I was too lazy to put the little orange sleeve rings on it...

Hehe I love it...I'm gonna wear it everywhere...

Thanx for looking...comments and such are appreciated and loved Grin

10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / The Duct Tape/Packing Tape/Paper/Chain Wallet Quest! (IMG HEAVY) on: October 13, 2006 07:17:46 PM
I've never been the type to carry a purse...and I've had the same wallet forever because I can never find cool chain-compatible wallets...so I decided to make my own...

My first attempt used pages from an old issue of Shojo Beat...the chain isn't on in these pictures...but I think it came out pretty good...it was just to make sure I knew what I was getting into.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e30/HawksDesigns/wallet/DSC02064.jpg
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e30/HawksDesigns/wallet/DSC02067.jpg
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e30/HawksDesigns/wallet/DSC02068.jpg
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e30/HawksDesigns/wallet/DSC02069.jpg

There are a few little problems with ^that one^ but I'm sure I'll find something to do with it...I'm proud of it because it helped me perfect my pattern before I tried making "The KISS wallet"...  I've always been a pretty big kiss fan...so I printed off scans of Psycho Circus and made this cool wallet...It took me about an hour because I was really obsessive about making sure it looked right...

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e30/HawksDesigns/wallet/DSC02076.jpg
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e30/HawksDesigns/wallet/DSC02079.jpg

Whew...I didn't mean for it to get this long...if you read all that and looked at all of the pics...I seriously thank you...and if you have any suggestions/questions/comments...I'd love to hear/answer them...
