31  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Leftovers=new ideas! on: November 26, 2006 12:54:55 AM
Ok, so last night we had;
BBQ turkey pizza YUM!
ingredients;
1 pizza crust (I used a frozen bread dough and it was awesome!)
red onion either chopped or sliced
leftover turkey
BBQ sauce (your favorite!)
garlic
any kind of cheese you like (mozzerella, cheddar, goat)
olive oil
butter

Pre heat oven to 375 (or whatever your crust requires)
carmelize onions in a pan with equal parts butter and olive oil, about 2TBS each, dabb some BBQ sauce around your crust, sprinkle cheese and turkey around, add garlic and onions and sprinkle some olive oil over the top of the whole thing. Bake for about 13 mins, or until the center of the pizza is hot and crust is golden. YUM!

Turkey enchiladas;
Flour tortillas 8
turkey
sourcream (8oz)
can of dieced green chiles
2 cans of cream of chicken soup
some milk (about 1/2 C)
jack cheese (about 8 OZ or more)
non stick spray or olive oil
enchilada pan/brownie pan/casserole dish
1)preheat oven to 350
2)In a large bowl, mix about 3 LBS of precooked turkey, one can of soup, half the cheese, and chiles. It should be the consistency of chocolate chip cookie dough, if it needs a little milk, add a 1/4 C or so!
3) add mix in equal parts to all 8 tortillas, wrap and place in oiled pan, seam side down,
4) in medium size bowl, mix sour cream, can of soup, most of the remaining cheese, leaving some to sprinkle on top. Mix in enough milk to reach the consistency of pancake batter, slightly more runny than the first mixture. Spread over top of enchiladas add remaining cheese and bake for about 35-45 mins or until cheese is golden and middle enchilada is hot!
Serve with more sour cream and salsa!
32  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Favorite allover fabric stitch? on: November 16, 2006 08:44:03 AM
Ok, so anyone have a favorite all over pattern that they like? I am planning on making a throw, and I need some suggestions for favorite stitches/all over patterns. I like the catherine wheels and shells and such, but anyone have anything they would like to see in a large project? I am open to color changes and what have you... thanks!

Oops, I forgot to search this one first, I will go do it... if I find it, I'll delete the post! Smiley
33  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Organic, genetically modified, how to tell!?! on: October 24, 2006 09:54:28 AM
Hey there cooks and consumers.... DID YOU KNOW...

When you are purchasing fruits and vegetables, there are those funny stickers that have a 4 or 5 digit number and then the name of the product like '91467 Fuji'... WELL.... did you know;

>if it starts with a 9 at the beginning,  (and has 5 numbers total) then it is an ORGANIC product
>if it starts with an 8 (and has 5 numbers total) it has been genetically modified!
>if there are only 4 numbers (usually starting with a 4 or 5) that means that they have used conventional methods to grow your produce.

Hope this is interesting and helpful to you!
34  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Mary Jane! on: October 22, 2006 03:08:39 PM
I am working on some slippers for a personal swap (Hi Selise!)... and I tried a couple of patterns before I just decided to wing it and do my own... Check them out, I have not fashioned a button yet, and they are a bit small for my foot (Selise has a smaller foot than me!). Oh, and I have not done the left one yet...Please excuse the terribly hairy legs Smiley, it's pants weather here now!

On it's side...

And modeled by King Kong  Shocked ....

Thanks for looking. I plan on making more for Christmas this year... I'd love to hear what y'all think! Thanks!
35  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / MUSHROOM swap!?! Round 2! on: October 13, 2006 04:47:51 PM
It is mushroom season here in the Pacific Northwest and the Chanterells are sprouting up everywhere (among other things!)!!! Anyone interested in a mushroom swap?
Some inspiration....

36  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Shop my sweat shoppe swap (SSS round 5)~CLOSED! Send out 11/18 on: October 09, 2006 06:35:44 PM
Here we go again! This is the 5th round of the sweat shoppe swap.

We are doing something a little different this time so, read carefully and ask questions! There are two organizers for this mammoth of a swap. devilninny and myself will be sharing responsibility for keeping this great swap running smoothly! I'll post all the links to previous rounds at the bottom of the page and start with a brief explanation... This swap is about your best work. You will be creating a virtual shop (your 'sweat shoppe') and in your shop you will offer 4 different 'products' (or more). You will be given 5 'customers' and they will be placing 'orders' from your shop. Conversely you will be given 5 shops to shop from. These will not necessarily be the same people (you probably won't be sending to the same people you are receiving from, but possibly one or two could be the same). Essentially you send 5 things, you get 5 things. You are welcome to put your 'name in the hat' twice so you can make 10 things and receive 10 in return. And now for the official sign ups....

THE RULES:

*send outs are Nov 18th
*each item must have a retail cost of between $7 and $10 (medium-small craft) (you may send out items that would retail for more, and understand that you will likely have a wide range of return items) please see the galleries of the other sweat shoppes for some great examples! http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=100170.0 and
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=115099.0 also check out the discussion threads as people were posting their 'offered' items there!
*these items should be a good representation of your work
*You will have a virtual sweat shoppe, and you will offer a minimum of 4 different 'products' in your shop and will end up crafting 5 items total
*you may enter your name in the hat twice. In that case you will be crafting 10 items for 10 people (you are not required to offer more than 4 different 'products' however)
*This is a huge swap. Communication is key! There are two organizers, devilninny and myself. Please feel free to PM either or both of us with any questions or challenges you might have.
*There will be an official check in just before send outs, you are required to reply within 3 days of that post or you will be considered a no-show and be removed from the swap list with a negative feedback
*please DO NOT send early, after the official check-in your name (and your partners) will be green on the official list, once your partner's name is green on the list you may send to them. IF you send early to someone not green, you may end up with negative comments in your feedback! (for not following directions!)
*don't hesitate to ask questions over in the discussion thread if you like, this is a SUPER FUN swap, and there are a lot of returning swappers to help you with those questions (as well as myself!)
*devilninny will be handling the approval of swappers for this swap as co-organizer!
Small list of approved swappers will be easier to read when swap is closed!

37  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Fantasy-ish costum-like fabrics? on: September 28, 2006 06:12:57 PM
Ok, so I went to JOannes, and I asked about that fabric you see on like little girl's fairy wings or even baby toys... you know the stuff, that is kinda shiny, irridescent, and not so natural feeling... where the heck can I get this stuff? It seems there isn't even a name for it. THe JOannes lady showed me the wedding fabrics, but they were all like, you know, wedding... no pink or blue or purple, and she tried to show me the spandex stuff with the faux sequins.... ummm, almost, I guess the sequin things were irridescent-ish....

anyway, thanks!

39  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Suggest New Boards and New Features / NEW! indicator for messages? on: September 25, 2006 01:38:21 PM
Ok, so I understand that we have that cool feature right up there in that navy blue strip that tells us we have a certain number of new messages, BUT I seem to be missing messages somehow... I have missed two messages in the last week, and I mean, they are there, but somehow I didn't read them, they were indicated as read though... does that little indicator next to each message change when you are simply on the page that the message is on, or does it change when you actually CLICK on the message... I don't really know the proper vocab, so sorry if I am confusing:)... thanks!
