11  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Knitter needing help with broken fiber! on: January 29, 2008 10:17:19 AM
Hi fiber freaks (I say this affectionately and with a sprinkle of jelousy Cheesy)... I thought someone over here could help me with a dilemma...
I am knitting my very first pair of socks.
I was given some wool sock yarn, that is not bulky or whatever, just consistent.
I just came upon a thin spot in the sock yarn, like parts of the (ply?) have broken. It is 3 strands together and two of the three are broken.

Here's the question, what do I do? Do I just knit on, and leave the thin part and broken ends? Can I graft them without using a knot? It is at about the 30th row or something, so it won't be at a spot where a little knot will bug me, BUT I am a teeny bit of a perfectionist, and the little knot will bug me Smiley Is there a way to felt these little buggers into place?
Thanks!!!

13  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Stinkin PayPal on: July 02, 2007 12:10:59 PM
So, I have been dealing with pay pal for months on this issue. Finally it has effected a sale and I am ticked off!

My e-mail address 'prefix' is the same as someone else's with a different 'suffix' (so, I am like craftster@hotmail.com and she is craftster@hotmail.UK or whatever) so, our names are similar too and her pay pal account has tied up mine. they have fused the two accounts together somehow, the password reset gets sent to my e-mail, but they are her security answers to access. When I contacted pay pal, they send me a link to reset my passwords etc with all of her security stuff again. Grr! Oh, and this is all through Paypal UK...

So the last sale I had in my etsy, the purchaser is in the UK, and paid through Paypal (the first item I have sold through paypal on etsy) and they paid the other paypal account! ....

It is my plan to call them, but I am so frustrated that something like this could happen that I wanted to post a 'watch out for your accounts' warning. I hope you all are keeping good track of what is going on, and not just trusting that pay pal is on top of things!

14  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Eco-flow buster maxi! on: July 01, 2007 10:48:09 PM
If the sewers can do it so can we!... crochet your own maxi pad!
This wonderful purple pad is just right for those that are a bit too squeemish for the original eco-flow butser crochet tampon!

This pad is made out of hemp grown organically and died with an environmentally friendly dye process. The removable inside is made with old towels so you can make them as thick or thin as needed.

You may be wondering if this thing will be uncomfortable. Yes, it will be at first, so I am going to wash it a couple times before I use it. We all know that stiff-grass-stage that hemp comes to us in, but did you know that after a few washings it gets softer like cotton or linen and after quite a number of washings it gets smooth like silk!
Thanks for looking!!!

~Each item/set should be the best representation of your work, and have an estimated retail value of between $7-$10 USD. If you have any doubt, post your item in the business discussion board and see what others there think. Or you may post in the sweat shoppe discussion thread http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=84367.0 ,
~ When sign ups close, I will ask everyone for a 'top picks list'. That list is a wish list, from the items that are offered, and there will be an effort to match to you, as many items on your list, the remainder of items will be randomly placed. The top picks list is due July 13th.
~We have a system for sending early; the master list of swappers will be color coded for those who are ready to receive items. When you are finished crafting, you will PM me, and I will change the color of your name on the master list to green, at that time you may send to any other green/ready person! I will also send out a check in PM for those who are not finished early, and at that time your status will be determined.
~ No DCN's are required, however, if a package fails to arrive, you will be required to send another, unless you save your receipt from the PO, and in that instance I will get an angel.
~ Feedback will be given when all 5 items are confirmed as received.
~ Positive feedback will be given for all people complying with the craftster swap guidelines. Late senders will be recorded in the comments section, as will poor communication. If I have to track you down, for confirming you have received or sent items, this is poor communication. When an item arrives at your door, you are expected to PM the sender of an item as well as GatorWrangler, and post in the gallery.
~ there are a lot of veteran sweat shoppers here, if you have any questions please feel free to ask your questions here OR you can PM me!

16  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Crochet mayflower crown (Swap spoiler for TANZA) on: June 27, 2007 03:21:27 PM
Ok, so first I have to say, I usually hate swap spoiler posts... BUT I have to get this posted while I'm motivated and sitting here loading pictures!!!

So, Tanza and I did this for a personal swap, she sent me some hello kitty cloth pads and I am sending her this....

It's not my original idea. She sent me a pattern and I copied the basic idea. I did use the pattern for the flowers, but the leaves were tricky so I had to kinda wing them! Enjoy! I'd love to hear what you have to say!
