3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / A good plastic to wood glue? and what are your opinions on goop? on: January 26, 2008 01:22:17 PM
I want to make some trinkets and buttons for some friends and myself but i'm not really sure which glue to go with.I wan't it to be pretty tough though! I'm looking for a good glue that will glue plastic to wood, the little wood "disks"  are going to be painted with acrylic paint.I tried the website: http://www.thistothat.com
And it say's to try Goop...but I have never used goop before. what are your opinions on GOOP and if you don't like it or you don't think it will work for me what else can I use?
thanks you all!
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Earflap hat with ears. *edit, more photos* on: December 16, 2007 09:56:52 AM
This was my first try at making an earflap hat. The earflaps came out a bit uneven/twisted Because I made the earflap band a bit to big so it bunched a little at the back and one of the ears are floppy? They were suposed to be cat ears but i kinda made them to big haha.  Cry I still like it though  Cheesy :

Sorry for the crappy photos, my house has aweful lighting haha.

What do you all think of it?  Cheesy

***edit****I made another hat yesterday with a less shaggy faux fur fabric, I really like the way it turned out. I used plaid flannel for the inside of the ears and the inside of the hat is lined with the plaid flannel too, so it's nice and warm.  Smiley :

6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Origami Tree ornaments, help? on: November 10, 2007 07:19:27 AM
Hey you all! I haven't been on here in forever.  Been super busy Undecided I wasn't sure if this would be better under the paper craft section or the holiday section?I guess it could sort of fit under both? BUT it is about Christmas ornaments. sooo...
anywho...on with the question...
I've been working on making Christmas ornaments for our tree this year. They're going to be glittery origami cranes,I'm also thinking about giving some to family on Christmas, so I'd like to make these look nice.  I want the cranes to be really glossy looking, almost glass like..(is that even possible?ha ha) I also want them to last so I'd like to somehow make them somewhat waterproof and stiffer so they don't bend and rip as easily.I've been experimenting with diffrent products such as mod podge....but the mod podge seems to get tacky and sticky? I've also used a spray-can gloss enamel...but then they always seem to smell like spray paint even after a month ? and I was worried that it might make them flammable, and since they're going to be hung on a Christmas tree I didn't think that would be such a good idea. ha ha.  I'm sort of poor and I do more sewing than paper crafts so I really have no idea what i'm doing, any good pointers as to what products to coat these with would be lovely! Thanks alot you all!   Smiley
