1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Love~Hate skinny jeans w/ big cuffs on: November 06, 2006 01:17:36 PM
These dudes are made from black, slightly stretchy denim. I drafted the pattern for the pants myself, and I also hand embroidered the love/ hate motifs (I pretty much freehanded those).

EDIT: I forgot to say that the pants have pockets in the front, and a zip on the back to get 'em on with.
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / PANTS! I MADE PANTS!!! on: September 09, 2006 07:58:02 PM
Can you tell I'm excited?
The art of making pants that function has always elluded me- until now! I've been taking a pattern-making night class at the local community high, and a week or two ago we tackled pants.
So I designed and drafted the pattern for these jeans myself, and I even put in pockets! I just took my standard pants block and added 4cm at the bottom (hem) and eased the extension in, all the way up each side. But I'm not that fantastic at explaining... So picture time!

I know that they're not revolutionary in design or anything... but I'm still uber proud of my first pair Grin
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / little black dress meets doily on: May 03, 2006 12:36:49 AM
This dress looks and feels like a special occasioner!
Its super strech black velvet with a stunning example of lacy doily cascading down the side front....

The doily I picked up for a dollar or two in my travels....ridiculus price for the amount of work that went into it Angry
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Batty Necklace on: April 21, 2006 05:49:35 AM
I'm really into bats at the moment!

This little batty silhouette is a synthesis of all the bat outlines that have been flying outta my head lately.

Hangin off the light switch:

And on:

The devious little fellow is made out of some thick black leather I found. I delicately punched a whole in the tip of each wing with my quick unpick so I could put a .....*dammit word eluding me* ya know, metal circle thingie that one uses when jewelery making, to attach the chain.
Okay, yesss its sleep time for me! Cheesy ta ta, enjoy!
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Boyf's Buzzy Bee Hoodie*bzzzz* on: April 21, 2006 05:23:37 AM
My boyo has a thing for buzzy bee's..... the red, blue, black and yellow kind. I think that they might just be a New Zealand thing... I'm not sure... if you don't know what I'm talkin about check out the bee here!

So he asked me to make him a hoodie- a buzzy bee one! And I admit I was reluctant and kept putting it off- I didn't  want to be seen with a grown man in an insanely tacky coloured bee costume!!! But I think he had the same idea because when we went fabric shopping he picked out shall we say more muted colours for substitution: brown for red, dark blue instead of bright blue etc. So in the end he got his bee hoodie- antenae and all (except for wings, I drew the line there!) And without further ado, pictures!!!

Front: (Looks really ill fitting, he threw it on for me to take pics! And thats a lovely stain.)

People do stare when he has the hood up and the antenae are sticking up! he he Grin
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Playing Card Box/ Case on: December 16, 2005 11:20:07 PM
So I made this quite a few years ago... but it's still in action! That would be why it looks a bit scruffy Sad

open and upsidedown so you can see it's cardness

I cut the playing cards up to fit the case, then used double sided tape to stick them onto the brown case (which I think was a first aid kit box thingie).
However I then left the cards uncovered/ protected and easy prey for the elements (rain) and puddles on bar tables doh!:( If I did this project again it would be the first (well technically last...)  thing I'd do!
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Fang Necklace! on: December 15, 2005 07:16:30 PM
I was inspired after I saw a wicked necklace, in a store, that had a metal set of fangs on it. The $300 price tag gave me that push to create my own outta leftover halloween get up. Ta da!

The fangs are really lite and would hang better if they had some weight- I was thinking of filling them up with my hot glue gun but then thought the plastic might melt...And besides,I'm sure that theres a better way that hasn't occurred to me yet... suggestions fully appreciated!

Oh, and is it normal for vampires to have three front teeth?
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Chunky Measuring Tape Belt on: December 12, 2005 02:48:05 AM
Yay my first post!
I've worn this belt non-stop since I made it Grin

I chopped up two measuring tapes and used a denim needle to sew them on to a white vinyl backing, then stabbed some holes in one end and attached a buckle on the other. Voila!
Thank ya for looking, and I do apologise for the picture quality!
