1  UNITED STATES / Washington, D.C. / Craftster Meet-Up on: July 06, 2006 08:28:28 PM
Hey DC Chics!

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in starting a Craftsters Meet-up Group?  Maybe meet once a month -- talk about crafting projects, tips, meet other creatives?  I would be willing to organize something like this if others are interested.  Let me know what you think DC!

Thanks-

Jamie
2  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Goonies are Good Enough on: July 06, 2006 06:36:03 PM
Made a Goonie Shirt for my ex boy.  He is a lucky son-of-a-gun I tell you that!  I am stencil crazy since I learned how to use the freezer paper!!!! I had a little slip as you will see.  The stencil is from Stencilry. Comments appreciated, but not mandatory.

3  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects / Apron Top on: July 06, 2006 06:25:19 PM
I attempted an apron top this past weekend.  I made the straps EXTRA wide to accommodate the bra strap.  Feed back always appreciated.

I hope the pictures convey what the shirt looks like -- the big middle ties go around and tie in the front.

4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / A week/month in a life of? ATC Swap on: July 05, 2006 01:22:02 PM
So I was thinking maybe we could do a long term ATC swap?  I really want to start a good collection of ATCs.  Maybe we could do 6 months -- 3 cards a month depicting something that happened in the month (like an ATC letter if you will) -- rotating partners -- or even rotating themes -- work, relationships, music?  I don't know any ideas to piggy back on this or make it more soild?
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Wonder Woman Laptop Case on: June 25, 2006 08:56:39 PM
There was to be a Wonder Woman Swap, however it got postponed.  I was not going to be able to participate due to my upcoming move, BUT I have been thinking about making a Wonder Woman Laptop Case for my work computer for about a year -- so I went ahead and did it.  If I could do it again, there would be some changes, but this is what I have for now.  Thanks in advance for any comments.

The inside is flannel -- It's a girl standing in a forrest which is cool considering my job.

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My first Jordy w/ Tori Stencil on: June 25, 2006 08:45:58 PM
Here is my first Jordy bag.  I OVER estimated the side seams so its a bit squarish -- and I really wish I used interfacing...but I think it turned out pretty neat.  The Tori pocket was the hardest part...and it's crooked and the stitches are just "aight."  Lucky for me its a persent for my friend who is a TORI freak and she will not see past the stencil Wink  Thanks in advance for any comments.

7  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects / McCalls Strapless Summer Dress on: June 15, 2006 09:10:26 PM
Hey Gals.  Last week I finished a McCall's pattern - 5040 EE It worked out pretty well.  I used the size 20.  I normally wear a 18 jean, so if that give you any indication.  This was my first pattern project.  Pretty happy with it and thought I would share.

8  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Betty Stencil- First Attempt on: June 15, 2006 09:04:55 PM
Here is my first stenciling project!  I used freezer paper and acrylic with fabric medium.  I am a stenciling fool now!!!  Of course, the stencil is from stencilry.

She is a little stretched on, but I don't think Betty would mind.
9  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / McCall Dress Patterns -- True to Size? on: May 18, 2006 08:48:30 AM
Hi Gals-

Drawing on your experiences...is a size 20 in McCalls REALLY a size 20? (ie what I get at say Old Navy?) When I bought the pattern, I checked the bust size etc.  and thought to add about a half an inch to the pattern.  I normally wear a 18 or a tight (gasping for air) 16. I know patterns generally run small.  Do you think I need to add more?  Thanks so much ladies!  I am a re constructor by nature, I haven't done a pattern in FOREVER!

Any suggestions, tips, good vibes would be really appreciated!
10  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects / Old Skirt Into Strapless Dress on: May 08, 2006 02:20:09 PM
I have been drooling over the cute little strapless summer dresses I see everywhere, but couldn't find one that fit me right in the top.  As fate would have it, I also cleaned my closet and found a skirt that I used to love but never wear anymore.  So! what I did was cut the top (to keep the elastic and draw tie) -- made that into a bodice empire waist thingy then stitched up the slits in the skirt.  Now the draw string makes a cute little bow on the top of the dress. (Not that it looks cute in the picture, but I had just finished sewing) Grin  I actually wore it to work the other day.
