12  Bali Pops Purselet in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Midnight Sun on: February 21, 2012 12:42:29 PM
I needed a break from the usual sewing today and have been ogling Shocked a roll of bali pops I've had for awhile.  I didn't have a plan in mind when I started, so I just went ahead and sewed a bunch of the strips to a black heavy twill backing.  I then used a decorative stitch to add some texture.  It was now about the size of a placemat and so I stared at it for awhile...  Cheesy Cheesy  I decided to trim the one end and make a little bag out of it.  I really like the colours and added some black binding and an orange button for the closure.  Added the other buttons for something to do  Roll Eyes   Cheesy Cheesy and the wrist strap.  Completed size is 10" x 6". Have no idea what to do with it now  Grin

My project today was a skirt for my m.i.l's upcoming trip to the Honduras in April.  This is a surprise for her, hope she likes it.  It's just a 1" elastic waistband so it will be easy to pull on/off, over a bathing suit, or whatever  Cheesy

17  Market/Grocery Totes in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Midnight Sun on: January 25, 2012 01:30:15 PM
Finished these 3 large market totes for a lady.  The lady wanted quite large ones, so I cut them 22" x 22" and the bottoms are squared off although you can't tell by the photo, they're just kinda hangin' there  Cheesy Cheesy  I line all my grocery totes with a heavy duty canvas and they wash and last for a really long time.  My own have been washed and used constantly for groceries for almost 2 years and are holding up beautifully.  I found an alternative to expensive heavy canvas and that is the canvas painter's dropcloths.  Cheaper and heavy duty  Grin  I have all kinds of fruit and vegetable fabrics for these bags, and sold them like crazy at last summers local farmers market. Going "green" one bag at a time  Grin

18  Little gal stuff in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by Midnight Sun on: January 23, 2012 06:26:19 PM
I've been working on stuff for my summer market.  The little girls stuff is the most fun  Cheesy The fabrics and patterns available now for little gals is just so enjoyable to work on.  I have another 10 yards of this skully fabric left from last year and have been using it for various sewn items but am finding that I LOVE it made into little gals outfits.  I had a few yards of this sparkle silver fabric on the shelf and it works perfectly as a trim to the sparkles on the skully fabric.

I will be doing a personal swap with someone from the board who has a baby girl so this past weeks sewing has been inspired by that.  These patterns came from ViolaLee patterns on Etsy.  Her patterns are simple and make up quick and she's always available via email to answer questions promptly, which I really appreciate.

The following 2 are the little bloomer skirts...love this pattern!
