1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Jillie Concept Doll on: November 17, 2009 07:14:46 AM
This is my proof of concept for my new Jillie doll. Smiley I wanted to make a doll that was sort of a blank canvas for kiddos to make her into anything, but still be super colorful and funky. This little mod rag doll was the outcome after three or so tries. I'm pretty excited about her. Any comments or critiques for me would definitely be welcome. Smiley

She stands about a foot and a half tall.

Her little shoes. Smiley

I want to constantly make her better. Any ideas?

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Safe fabric/lining for a Laptop Sleeve on: September 20, 2007 06:45:34 PM
Heya guys, I just got a new macbook and I'm in dire need of a sleeve. I want to make one with nice and cooshy lining....

I have fleece interfacing. I wouldn't use fleece fabric or the interfacing against the computer or anything.... I know the static electricity with fleece could really damage it..

But! would the ironed fleece interfacing generate enough static electricity to hurt it?

Or do you have any better ideas for really cooshy interfacings?

Muchas Gracias Smiley
3  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Empire waist!? on: March 25, 2007 07:02:43 PM
Hi guys!! I'm on a desperate search for a plus sized empire waist dress that is pretty basic so that I can embellish. I'd be forever in your debt if such a bugger exists. Smiley

I have a wedding to go to on Saturday of next week and have the fabric and notions I need. Just looking for the pattern...

Any ideas? Bonus points if it's downloadable.
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Fish bowl! Betcha haven't seen one of these on: March 14, 2007 06:54:37 PM
So my mother in law got picked to be a namesake for a Texas A&M fish camp. It's apparently a big honor and she wanted something to commemorate the occasion.

Her color was purple and they gave her a poster of a patchwork purple fish for her wall. She didn't really want the poster on her wall but did want something to keep in her office.

Here's where I came in:

This was my first plushie and my first time glass etching with a rotary tool. I just love how it came out! Smiley

She asked me to make another for her friend who got another fish camp session named in her honor. I want to know if you guys think there's anything I should change? I'm definitely going to make the fish bigger. Anything else?
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Best way to fit a dog for a homemade outfit. on: March 14, 2007 01:01:37 PM
Hi guys! Smiley I'm running in to a bit of a problem when I try to fit my 3.9 pound Chihuahua for clothing. It never ever ever comes out correctly.

Does anyone know of any good tutorials for a basic shape that can be altered?
6  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Dream with me! - Input please please please :) on: January 28, 2007 08:28:12 PM
Well, I have a very exciting opportunity. I'm thinking about starting my own brick and mortar fabric store...

So, here's where the input is needed..

What things do you think would be offered in your dream fabric store?

I plan on using not normal stuff like simplicity patterns and all that. I want to go the more indie route and purchase the good stuff from people who actually have an opinion and a worthwhile point of view...

Any help?

8  Texas / Texas: Central / yarn/fabric stores in Austin/San Marcos on: February 17, 2006 12:11:38 PM
Hey guys, I'm new to the Austin area... I'm really getting excited about knitting and sewing..

Any reccomendations on fabric/yarn stores... preferably small businesses... not like Hancock  or JoAnns... they never have what I want anyway..

I'm in the Sunset Valley area and I go to school in San Marcos so anything around those two areas would rock the big one. Smiley

10  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / bed for my lil Agro puppy on: February 16, 2006 07:25:24 PM
1st post. Of course it'd have to be in the pet section lol.

Anyway! I made my 5 month old chi-baby, Agro, his very own little bed/room/eating area.  Since then I included a blanket for him to cozy up to.  He's still not so sure about it. :/

It was really easy. I upholstered a couple of things of cardboard, staplegunned the outside to some melamine and glued the cushion on.. made a pillow and case and stenciled his name. Oh! and I used ball looking (cheap) drawer pulls for the feet. (He think they're his golf ball though and every once in a while I find him digging at them lol) Smiley

W/ out further ado... my boy (and his bed of course!). Smiley
