this is the first thing i've created for my shop in quite a while

its a custom order from someone who saw a similar item in my flickr portfolio (sweet)

i have a question
my digital camera doesnt seem to like red, its has a hard time focusing... and makes the red come out all blasted (too bright)
so i have to tweak all my pics in red
does anyone know why this is happening? and what i could do? (apart from not creating in red anymore haha!)

promo swap success story Smiley

sockdiva and I had swapped promos way back when, and one of her satisfied sock bug clients just contacted me to buy 5 charms like the one I had sent her as promos!

the fun part of this is that i had intended those vintage button charms to be cellphone or purse charms, but she uses it as a stich-marker on her huge knitting needles, so she needs more!
Thats so fantastic! i now have a new product and i never even thought of that idea!
Thanks sockdiva!

i just had to share hehe
now back to my vacation Wink

hi guys!
i haven't been on here a lot lately, my personal life is quite the mess, to say the least
but I'm keeping my hands busy crafting and listing new items and blogging... I'm trying to list and blog everyday for a month, to see what comes of it
i re listed an item and it was sold in the same week, its a custom order so I'm quite happy
here they are Smiley
these are flat notes, that can be used as thank you notes, etc, its recycled paper and vintage buttons

and these new ones i created this weekend, gift tags

i have a question
the second set are small, 1 1/2 x 2 inches gift tags, but they take as much time to do as the big flat note cards, really...
would the fact that my price isn't much lower for the small cards deter buyers, in your opinion?

OK, some of you have seen the news on the etsy blog
and i thank you for all your kind words  Smiley

but i just have to share the complete story anyway  Grin

I am happy to tell you that my button earrings

have been chosen in the first group of jewelry selections for 1000 Jewelry Designs (working title), a book by Sandra Salamony and published by Rockport Publishers / Quarry Books.
This first batch is to make the "dummy," the 16 page printed piece that is used as a sales tool for the book!
The jewelry will also be featured in the book, with a link to my etsy shop!
Its also possible that other pieces of my jewelry will make the final cut!
It's going to be a really beautiful book, I'm excited by how it's shaping up.
I will retain the rights to my pieces, of course, and be publicised widely, linking credits and all!
I'm sooo pumped about this!
Thanks for letting me share!

Congrats BeaG!
The brooch isn't on the front page, but the link to the treasury still is Smiley

OK so my shop hasn't moved since yesterday Wink but i wanted to share:
what do you guys think of this?
I'm SO excited about them
They are made with the scraps that i get from sewing my vintage silk cuffs
my mother laughed so hard when i told her i was recycling even the scraps, but i think it turned out real nice Smiley
i even think maybe i may be the first one to think of this  Roll Eyes (until i see a similar pair somewhere on the net and my hopes of having an actual original never before seen idea is crushed hehehe)

8  vintage threads recon - silk hankies turned into cuffs / cufflets in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by tomatedepingles on: May 04, 2007 07:55:51 AM
Hi!
This is my new project, and I'm really hyper about it, but i do know i am not the bestest seamstress out there, its a basic project.... but i still wanted to share with you guys!
My mom used to wear when she was much younger silk hankies / scarves and she gave them all to me a few years ago... I wore them too, and then got tired of them...
So i decided to re-purpose them into something a little more modern

I made simple cuffs
Its pretty easy to do, even for a noob like me
I cut two rectangles of each, one outer shell, one lining fabric, both vintage silk, or old jeans i wouldn't throw away Wink
I also sandwiched in between a piece of felt, to stiffen it up a bit
Once its all sown, i decorated them with vintage buttons, and one or two loops to close it all up
This weekend i plan to try to learn to use my button installer thingy ("one step buttonwhole foot" harhar) and do cuffs that actually have buttonwholes Wink
wish me luck!

Congrats BeaG!

wow I'm behind on this thread... congrats to all the sales and great news!

I've been busy sewing and i just started listing these fab-tastic fabric accessories, such as cuffs and wrist-warmers, made out of 100% recycled vintage threads!

They are actually made out of my mom's vintage silk scarves she used to wear when she was much younger... i was about to send some to the salvation army because i don't wear them much, and saw that mot of them had small rips or pulled threads... i cant give that to the salvation army!
so i decided to keep them, because I'm a pack rat hehe
I've turned them into cufflets and the such... I've got a ton of ideas for these!

what do you guys think? ya or nay?
I'm pretty much smitten with them, but an objective point of view is welcome!
