Check out previous threads in this section, those have all the details and addresses and stuff.
But also, there's this great yarn store on Sullivan street called either Knit or Purl, i never remember. haha sorry if that's not very helpful, but google it or something if you have the chance, cause it's a great place.

yep, they've got the bell! i was scared to go in at first too, but then this group went in and i kind of snuck in behind them, and now it's one of my favourite fabric stores.  Smiley you should definitely check them out, they're fantastic!

that is so cute! i love how the stripes are shifted in the bottom band. and i think the term you're looking for is "x-acto knife".  Smiley
14  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Re: heat set? on: April 12, 2006 06:36:46 PM
heat setting is just like a "better safe than sorry" method to preserve your stencils, because there's always the chance that the paint could crack in the wash. i guess it's not completely necessary, but running an iron over your completed stencil for 3-5 minutes couldn't hurt. I don't really know any other methods, ironing is just the easiest.

yeah, i was disappointed about the lack of sewing supplies also. their whole fake-flower section would be much better used for fabric, i think.

as a native New Yorker, i have to tell you how much i love love love your bag. the colors are perfect, and i'm impressed with how you did all the layers over the pleating. compared with all the other trashy souveniers tourists buy, this bag will definitely stand out! great job!

welcome to craftster! for the halter, try cutting/taking in the sides the way you take in a t-shirt. just be sure to add seam allowances and stuff, if the material isn't stretchy.
