1  COOKING / Dessert / Holy Sticks of Butter! 3 Layer Chocolate Coffee Cake on: June 26, 2011 12:59:42 PM

Hola Craftsters!

It's been forever since I posted, but I thought I'd share this cake I made for my boyfriend's birthday yesterday. It took me all morning and by the time it was all said and done I used 6 sticks of butter!! Plus 1/2 a cup of shortening. Absolutely ridiculous. But everyone loved it! I wouldn't know, as I hate coffee and didn't taste it. I'm very proud of how it turned out though! Definitely my most successful baking experience to date.

I got the recipe from here: http://danatreat.com/2010/12/did-you-make-that-cake/

All packaged up and ready for delivery!

I would love to answer any questions you might have, thanks so much for looking! Smiley
2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Recent Photography! on: October 06, 2010 09:48:54 PM
Hola Craftsters! As a freshman in college with no idea what I want to do with my life, I decided to take a photography class because that's always been something I've had an interest in. I also joined a photo club we have on campus and both have been great for motivating me to get out and take more pictures and get out of my little photography slump I've been in for the past few months. Anywhoo.. I'd love to know what you guys think of my work! Enjoy. Smiley

Phew, that was a little more than I thought! I would love to know which is your guys' favorite/least favorite and if you have any suggestions for me to improve.

Thanks for looking!

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / New Summer Dress! on: June 24, 2010 09:52:05 AM
Hey Craftsters! I finally finished this dress that had been sitting in pieces on my workroom floor for months. I'm quite happy with what I ended up with. It is loosely based on this adorable dress from a fellow Craftster: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=124741.0

Check it out!

The whole dress. I lined it using fabric from these huge white t-shirts I had laying around.

Thanks for looking.. let me know what you guys think!

6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / I can't think of a catchy title... Photography! on: June 19, 2010 06:54:56 PM
Hey Craftsters! I finally got out yesterday and took some photos.. nothing too special, but I like them. Hope you do too!

I couldn't decide whether I like this or the colored one better, so I'll just post them both. Cheesy

7  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Henna on: June 16, 2010 09:08:28 PM
Hola Craftsters! Check out the henna I did last night. Cheesy

I'm fairly proud of this.. it's been a LONG time since I've done henna, I could see myself getting back into it.

What do you think? Thanks for looking! Smiley

Edit: Here's some more info on my henna process:

I used 2009 Jamilia henna ordered from Mehandi.com. I mixed the henna powder with lemon juice and a tiny bit of honey. After letting it rest in a covered bowl overnight, I add naiouli and cardamom essential oils (a.k.a. "terps") and let it rest another 8 hours. Terps help to improve the stain of henna.

As for the actual design process, well, there really isn't much of one! Cheesy I learned some of the basic elements of henna design here: http://www.hennapage.com/henna/what/lineart/index.html
I try to find different ways to use these elements and just sort of let the design flow.

The stain turned out lovely considering the location on my body, unfortunately I don't have a paste-off picture. Sad
8  COOKING / Dessert / LOST Finale Cupcakes! on: May 23, 2010 02:05:13 PM
Hola Craftsters! So today my boyfriend and I will be attending a small party for the series finale of our favorite show of all time, LOST. We decided to make cupcakes for the event!

It was pretty simple, we used this recipe: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Self-Filled-Cupcakes-II/Detail.aspx along with cream cheese frosting. We printed out tiny Lost-related images and attached them to toothpicks and stuck them in the cupcakes to set the mood. Wink Oh, and them we sprinkled them with Hershey's bar shavings. I'm very happy with how they turned out, and I can't wait to show people at the party tonight.

Here they are....

This was the only one that didn't turn out washed out and blurry.

The whole gang.

Hardcore Losties might notice all the candidates are in the front row. I took it a step further and put their corresponding numbers on the back.

9  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / LOST Finale T-shirts on: May 20, 2010 09:28:53 PM
Hey everybody. So, with the greatest show on earth ending this Sunday, my boyfriend and I decided to stencil LOST t-shirts to wear to the finale party we're going to. We used to the freezer paper method.. way easy! We had a ton of fun doing it too. My mom even asked us to make her one!

So.. without further ado.. here they are!

Both of us!

Close up. I did the Looking Glass.. he did the Orchid.

And just for fun...

(His name is Jacob, btw Wink)

So I realize you kind of have to watch the show to get the shirts.. hehe, oh well. Hope you enjoyed them anyway! Questions and comments welcome.
